How are meals tracked on dining plan?

I have a couple questions about how the meals are tracked when you use the DP. First, are the credits stored on the room keys? If so, will there be enough credits listed for each person staying in that room? Here's why I am asking--my niece is listed on our room, but I figure that she might not be eating all of her meals with us. Would there be any way to put her meals on their card if that is the way they are divided? Thanks for any responses. :paw:

if your niece is staying in your room, her meal credits will be on your card.

Disney cannot put them on another room if she's not booked in that room.

If she has her own room key, and she goes to eat w/ her parents, they can have their credits taken from their room key and her credits taken from her card, I imagine.

You're given a receipt after each meal that gives you the total number of credits remaining on your card.

I think I need more clarification on this... we are a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children), and will be on the dining plan. So our meals are all tracked through one card?

See if this makes sense...

There is an account in a central Disney computer that keep track of all the credits. So if there are 4 of you on the plan and you are staying 5 days, the account starts with 20 TS/CS/snack credits.

What is stored on your room key is the account number. Anybody with a room key linked to the account can use some or even all the credits.
