How are cruises during Christmas? I assume that they get booked up, so does that mean that the ship is too crowded? I have heard that WDW at Christmas is wall to wall and I was wondering how the cruise line faired. Also, is it cold during this time or warm enough to swim? Thanks!

Generally, the Disney ships are full. They control the demand by pricing the peak season high and the off season low. I would not expect the cruise to be significantly more crowded at Christmas than any other time of the year.

This December will be our second cruise after Christmas (the other one was during Feb. vacation). It is crowded but the ship is built for capacity crowds so it never feels crowded. I think that Disney is near capacity on most of their cruises and they seem to handle everything very well. Now, WDW after Christmas is a whole other story, the crowds are unbelievable.

We sailed X-Mas 2002 - 7 Nt. Western. It was not booked to capacity by about 200 people(if I remember correctly). The following week (New Year's) we were told was sold out.

The waters were warm enough to swim. However, we had several cool & breezy days, mostly at sea, where the air made it too cold for me(not for the kids though).

We did WDW the week before X-mas and except for the Magic Kingdom we had the place to ourselves:p

Hi, we did the new year's eastern cruise this past dec./ jan. and i dont think we will do a winter cruise again. we prefer summer. the seas were very rough and temperatures very cool and rainy. The captain told us it was typical winter seas being quite big swells (as much as 20 ft.) and winds that a child could lean into and it would hold them up. Now it was a great time and it was sunny in st. martin and st. thomas, but we enjoyed the temperatures and swimming much more in the summer and will now be doing the western in another 4 weeks. barb
