How accurate is refund date on irs site

I checked on the "Where's My Refund" link on the IRS site, and the date it says I should have had my refund by has already passed. Has anyone else encountered this, and if so, how much later than the date they told you did you actually get your refund? It is direct deposit, so I know it isn't due to any mail delays. I'm trying to juggle around a bunch of bills, so I'm trying to get a feel for just how late that date is.

For a week leading up to Feb 28th mine kept saying my refund would be deposited Feb 28th. Just checked this morning and now it says

Your tax refund is scheduled to be direct deposited on March 8, 2012. If your refund is not credited to your account by March 13, 2012, check with your bank to find out if it has been received. Please wait until March 13, 2012 before you contact us again because we are unable to take any action until then.

I did our taxes quickly and e-filed. The refund was scheduled for February 15th and it arrived 8 days later into our bank account. The IRS covers themselves by saying the date is an estimate. HTH.

i think it says they send the wire on the date listed to the bank. it might take the bank 3 business days or so to put the money in the right account...

I was scheduled to get mine on 2/27/12 and it was in my account and available on 2/28/12. So only 1 day later for me. ( I e-filed on 2/4/12 so it did take 3 and a half weeks to get it from that date.)

Ours took about 20 days from when we filed. The IRS site said we should have it by 2/20 and we didn't actually get it until 2/23.

Ours took exactly 7 days for Federal and one state. I owe money to another state and will pay it before April 17. The IRS website had me at 2 weeks from the file date.

My accountant told me last week that the dates are screwy this year. Some of his clients waited 6 days, some 30+. I'm hoping I get mine on schedule

Mine was dead on.......I filed about 2 weeks ago, checked the IRS site last Thursday, it gave me a deposit date of 3-7 and guess what was deposited into my account this morning? Pretty good. I had my state refund ($52 whole dollars lol) last Thursday, that's why I checked the federal date I was hoping it would be deposited Friday last week, when we were in DL, that could have been an awesome weekend at DL! lol

Our tax preparer said ours should be in our account by March 1st. It's not there. I used the "where's my refund" link on the IRS website and it said our refund should be deposited today but to give it up to March 12th to show up.

The tax office we used told me the IRS had some kind of glitch early on that put them a week behind in issuing refunds.

Mine was right on time. But I read a few weeks ago that returns are being delayed due to a glitch.

Once I finally got it to acknowledge a date instead of giving me an error message... It was deposited on that exact date.
