How accurate are the forecasts on temp?

We are heading down in 4 days with 3 kids under 1. Adults and older kids can make due or buy a sweatshirt to adjust for changing temps, but with little ones I am a bit more concerned with their clothing. At the moment, the forecasts call for 75-80 all week. Can I assume that means it wont drop to the near freezing temps of years past? Have the meteorologists ever predicted really hot (or cold) temps and had a sudden shift? The babies will have jackets and blankets and a few pairs of pants each (for night time when the temp drops), but do I need to pack a warm winteresqu outfit for every day?

The biggest thing that caught me off guard last year with similar weather predictions was I was sweaty when it shifted so it hit me a little harder than I was expecting. Also, I don't normally stand outside in 50 or 60 weather for long periods of time like you will be doing for ride lines, parades, fireworks. I would plan on a second layer for everyone and not just a sweatshirt. You'll probably only need it when waiting for a parade or fireworks and standing still.

but how long are you there? nobody can really say next week a cold front won't happen.

You'll probably be ok with warm sweaters but if you have a light jacket for them, I would pack that too. If you look at the lows as well as the highs for the temperatures, some days are starting out in the 50s, which can feel pretty cold down here.

This morning I was at the park with DS, it said it was 63 but we were COLD! It was cloudy and there was a cold breeze and even a sweater wasn't cutting it. So maybe think about an extra layer if you can squeeze it into your case.

This morning it was overcast and started with a temperature of 54. As the day went on, we hit 74 degrees as long as it was sunny but with the overcast sky it felt more like 65.
The forecast this week is about the same, the difference in sunny 74 and cloudy 74 is vast.
I would pack some extra warmth for the babies and also for the grownups too. A hoody goes a long way if paired with long sleeves or a sweater and some slacks/jeans.
I would recommend checking a little closer to your arrival date and still pack some layers of warmth.
It is a great time of year to be here though... Floridians wait from May to September for weather like this. :)

Something that I find very helpful is the "hour by hour" forecasts found on many weather web sites, like weather.com. It will tell you how cold it will be in the evenings, or at 8:00 am. You say you're seeing forecasts in the 75 to 80 degree range for your trip, but those are just the high temps, not the lows.

I was surprised one year at Epcot. In one ten-day October trip, our temps swung from mid-to-upper 90s (and very humid), then dropped down to the low 60s with a breeze. I remember being very cold at Epcot, beause I'd packed mostly shorts and sleeveless shirts. I layered the best that I could, but my legs were freezing! So pack a little bit of everything just to be safe.

We were there this week and wore a sweat jacket or a long sleeve shirt many days, even though the temp was warm. The cloud cover made it feel cooler as the humidity was down. There were a few places...such as Philharmonic where we were FREEZING! Always bring a sweat jacket and tie it around your waist. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

We arrive on Friday, seeing highs of upper 70s to low 80s. I'm thinking I'll take long sleeved tees and a light down vest, can't see taking much more jacket than that. Maybe a super light weight down jacket that comes with a bag to roll it up in, leggings and sneakers. We live south of Atlanta and it's been up into the 70s for the past few days. Thankfully we drive so we can leave extra jackets in the car and just grab one on our way to the monorail station.

We arrive friday too. Soooo much to do still! We are driving to my sisters on Thursday (a 4 hour drive to her house) and spending the night with her so we can all fly out together the next morning. The joys of a big family trip! :crazy2:

I haven't done anything! My daughter (18 years old) did decorate my magic band for me (first time we've decorated them!) and I did find her a vintage beaded sweater vest to wear for the Christmas Party today ($14, I was proud!) I'm waiting to pack until I can see a better forecast. Unfortunately the lightweight packable down jacket I planned on getting sold out locally and I know that Ann Taylor can't get it here in time if I order. I did manage to wash my favorite pair of Nikes so that's a step in the right direction :D Time is flying now!
