How about those sofabeds?

We just came back from HHI last night. I'm sorry to say, I think the sofabeds at HHI are horrible. They were uncomfortable to sit on, let alone sleep on. I'd rethink offering your 75 yr old aunt a bed, or even an inflatable mattress would be better (IMHO).

My girls (11 and 12) slept on the sofa bed at BCVs in a 1BR, and they woke up with back aches every day. We learned our lesson and are going to use our points to get legit beds!

Best of luck
Diane

Yikes! That's not what I wanted hear. I don't have enough points to get a 1BR. Do you think it's going to be too bad for her even if I use the mattress topper?

Off to check the price of an aero bed.......

UPDATE: Just went out and bought the WalMart equivalent of the queen sized Aerobed today. It looks pretty nice and has the electric pump, so I think my aunt will be happy with it. Best part is that it was only $60. We can either pull the sofabed out and place this on top of the sofabed mattress, or hopefully just set it up on the floor if we do a little bit of rearranging. Thanks again for the heads up. My aunt has a bad back, and I want to make sure she is comfortable.

Anyone in the know on the sofabeds at VWL. I still can't figure out why we haven't gotten the new sofabeds yet while BCV which was built later already did. :confused3 I want to know if I should head to Walmart for the $60 aerobedesque mattress or wait it out till November. The bar in the back is really a killer.

I'm wondering about the sofa beds at VWL too. We will be there over Thanksgiving and it would be nice to know if they will have something better. I absolutely love VWL, but the last time we stayed there, the family member traveling with us said his back really hurt. We didn't have enough points to reserve enough accomodations that would avoid someone being on the sofa bed. If anyone knows anything, please share!

Thought I would share the response I got from DVC when I asked if the sofa beds at VWL would be part of the refurbishment...

Thank you for contacting Member Services. The VILLAS AT DISNEY'S
WILDERNESS Lodge will be undergoing a renovation and rehab beginning in
September. We do not have exact details yet of what is being done or
when it is expected to be complete.

The mystery continues...

I'll be there in September--maybe I can find out!

We just used the sleeper chair and sleep sofa at AKV. We gave my 76 yo Father the king bed, couldn't imagine asking him to sleep on a sofa bed. I slept on the sleeper chair, and DH and DS slept on the sleep sofa. No complaints from us. There are still bars, but you can move your body to accomodate them.

We also stayed at HHI, but did not use the sleep sofa, but the sofa really isn't that comfortable. I think it's too high.

This may be a silly question... I know they list under "additional amenities" for the various resort rooms "bed boards and rails". I'm guessing that the rails are the toddler bed rails designed to keep the little ones from rolling off a full size bed, but what is a bed board? I have heard of panels you can put under a sofa bed mattress to help make it a more even sleeping surface, is that what this is or am I way off base (which would not be the first time!)? :lmao:

We bring a toddler aero bed for our 4yo and the youngest 2 are still in pack-n-plays so we haven't had to request the bed rails or such yet.

Wondering if anyone had any experience with this and if might help make the sofa beds more comfy?

My 19 yo son in February 2008 said the sofabed was very comfortable. My younger son spread out in the bed, and older DS put sofa cushions on the floor at the end of the bed and said the cushions were to die for. HTH. We stayed at SSR the same week they said the sofabeds were ok but not as good as AKV.

good - about time. they better change those sofa beds or this VWL owner just may have to voice her displeasure...to the proper people of course ;)

If anyone will be at the VWL in September or October and can let me know if the sofa beds are part of the refurbishment, I'd really appreciate it! Thank you!!

We were at BCV is August and they have the new style, which are amazingly easy to operate and very comfortable for a sofa bed with a much thicker mattress than the average sofa bed. It did take us a minute to find the bedding and pillows (they are built “into” the bed as you fold it out and are hidden once fully folded out).

Yes if I had fully read the instructions on the bed I would have known, but that takes all the fun out life!

We have used the sofa beds at BCV, SSR and OKW. The sofa beds at BCV & SSR were very comfortable. The OKW sofa bed was awful (and this stay was just last week). Then again, the king bed at OKW was hard as a piece of plywood.

The family and I were talking about our trip to BCV this past June. One of the first things my DD said was, "Oh the sofabed was so comfortable!"

There you have it....

So glad to hear that the VWL will be undergoing a rehab in September - it's overdue. Hope the new sofabeds get rolled out early as I arrive after Thanksgiving:santa:. Anyone there now that can provide updates would be appreciated.
