Can anyone returning from a recent cruise give us a Castaway Cay update? Is some of the vegetation growing back? How is the general condition and appearance?

Are there areas/facilities that are still off limits due to the hurricanes?

Does anyone have pictures they could post??

Thanks in advance,

JG

The island withstood the storms fairly well....they were doing alot of work last week on the area adjacent to where the ship docks. Im not sure if that area was damaged or if they were just making improvements to the island. There was an area (maybe a place where you launch boats?) that had a lot of damage to it...asphault and cement had washed away. Also noticed a machine used for dredging (?i think) off the family beach. The vegitation was kind of brown but should return to normal fairly quickly. I did not venture over to the teen or adult beach so Im not sure how well they faired.

It is back!

The only physical damage I noticed was the walk way shortly after departing the ship. You are on a concrete walkway, then it is sand for about 10 feet, then back to concrete. When you look towards the water on the left, you can see how the land was eroded from wind / sea, and the walkway must have collapsed. They had built up the land, and put sand on the top. I wouldn't be surprised after a few more cruises that the walkway was back.

Vegetation is all scaled back, but you can start to see some green growing back. You can see some of the Crew Only spaces, where before the vegetation covered it up. The area right next to the ship (on the other side of the pier) was a rather depressing brown, but I am sure over time, it will grow back.

While waiting for the tram, I spoke with a CM who lived on Abacos Island. She indicated they were all still working their normal five day workweek, even though the Wonder was in drydock. So, they have only had to worry about the Magic once a week. The other four days were clean up / landscaping days.

She also indicated that there were no signs of the cat(s). She didn't know if the cats were evacutated off the island before the Hurricanes hit, or if they were left behind to weather the storms.

Nothing appeared to be off limits, and all structures appeared to be fine.
