How about a walking path

There has been a lot of talk on one of the other threads about a DVC on the Monorail. Since there doesn’t seem to be any plans for that, or expanding the rail, how about putting in a walking path from the Boardwalk to the front of EPCOT. There would then be a choice of taking the rail or a bus to get to The Magic Kingdom. I think it would give those of us at the BCV, and BWV a great choice of transportation. I would think that they could add this in right after you cross the bridge over the road on the back path. I know that it would be a small walk to the front of EBCOT, but it would sure be better than waiting in the line for a bus first thing in the morning. Something like this might also bring more people from the other resorts to the Boardwalk area, which might be good for the stores and restaurants.

Just a thought,
Rob

I think the path through Epcot right now is the only way to walk and it is not a short walk - around a mile.

I don't think DVC can - because the WDW uses that area for maintence - get an upper floor at BCV and you can see what I mean. WDW does not like guest to see its back side - what do you think all the trees block.

What about the back entrance to Epcot? We used it several times, we took a boat from the Dolphin/Swan, but we also walked into Epcot from the boardwalk areal (I think we ate at ESPN), is the back entrance not always open?

yes it is called the International Gateway - but I think they want a route that does not go into Epcot to get to the front. So they want have to use a ticket?

I never could understand why they didn't put the Epcot monorail station in a central location between World Showcase and Epcot. That way, you wouldn't have to walk all the way through to get to WS and all the way back after Illuminations. It's a real trek at the end of a long day.

Why not add in a bus to Epcot. I'm sure it would get used. It would also give people a way to get to Boardwalk from other resorts without having to wait forever.

As for why...sometimes you just want to get to the Magic Kingdom Resorts. And also the theme parks are the quickest way to get to any of the resorts. This was my occasional choice to get in and out of the Animal Kingdom Lodge to another hotel.

This would be a very cool thing! Even if it was from BCV over instead, it would still be great.

As it is now, when we do stay at BWV, we get park hoppers and walk thru Epcot more often than not to catch the monorail to the MK resort area.

The one problem with this is that existence of this path would soon become common knowledge (through the 'hint' books, etc, and before you know it you have guests from ALL the Epcot resorts walking through BCV's to get to the path. That includes guests staying at BC, YC, Swan, Dolphin, and BW Inn as well as the BWV and BCV guests. I for one would not like BCV's to become a thoroughfare.

Caskbill...he might have been referring to the bus idea not the path. A path from YC/BC or BCV would have to cross the road. Then again maybe he meant the path.

Your argument still applies...that's why I'd have the bus stop at the usual 3 stops...or maybe just from the Swan/Dolphin. At least the S/D busstop is accessible without cutting through the S/D complex. Plus its closer than either the YC/BC or BW stops for the average hotel room in the Epcot Resort complex. And its certainly closer than cutting through Epcot for most people except the BCV'ers. All you need is an official path that leads from the pick up area to the bridge.

you have a path and the boat - I think you can ride the boat to Studios and take a bus to Epcot (I might be wrong - but I think you can).

but I don't believe what you want is ever going to happen. If you want to visit the MK then stay at VWL - if you want to visit Epcot or Studios - stay at BCV/BWV.

remember you have 38 years - you don't have to visit everything everytime you are there. the parks aren't going to go away tomorrow.

What I meant was a path. Not a bus, and not going through the Beach Club. Like I said in the origanal post is if they put in a path that would lead from the World Showcase entrance area, OUTSIDE THE GATE, to the main gate it would help alleviate some of the bus crowding. I know that this would be a hike, and not everyone would use it. If you look at this way, the Monorail is empty heading back to the transpertation center in the mornings, and vise versa at night. If they put a bus route in, they would then have that expense and again you are waiting for a bus. It just seemed like a way to help with the transpotation problem of packed busses first thing in the morning, and when the parks close.

the WS is not in the front - if would have to be a path around WS and FW - behind FW is where alot of the work is done and I don't think WDW won't you to see this - also this is where all the buses come and go - where do you plan for this path to end - if it epcot - well the current path does fine - if around epcot where the monrail is - I don't see where they could possible put it that could avoid there work areas and the buses. Besides if they were going to put one there - they would have when they make the BC/YC.
