This times 1000.Doubt Disney would even consider this for DS (or a stop at SSR convenient to DS). It would just encourage people to park there to go to the parks and avoid parking fees.

At best, I could maybe see an extension to DS (maybe also serving Typhoon Lagoon via bus), but there is the parking issue for sure. Zero chance they’d run it to either OKW or SSR.So at a time Disney is trying to cut $4-5B in spending and firing thousands of executives you think that some of those executives are going to recommend a million dollar infrastructure project to aging sold out DVC resorts?
And you think that DVC members who purchased those resorts will want to see their dues go up substantially?
I remember you had to show ticket media, but not resort ID… with the possible exception of the resort monorail. How many of you remember back a few decades ago when you used to have to show a resort id (pre-MBs, of course!) or a park ticket to get on Disney transportation? They bagged that admin piece after several years.......
I am in agreement with the general plan. I don’t see it happening soon but maybe 7-10 years. I think the leg has to include a new resort plus AKL/BB/Coronado plus the All-Stars. I would think that’s the most likely spot to see a new skyway. I know there is cost involved to build but Disney also has data to show that consumers will pay a premium to stay at a Skyliner resort. Here‘s my idea - build a new resort north of Western Way near Animal Kingdom. Build another three way Skyliner hub at the new resort. One leg goes to AKL, one leg goes to All-Stars with a mid station at Blizzard Beach, third leg goes to front of Epcot with a mid station at CSR. Build a new gate at the back of AK that goes to new resort and new Skyliner station. Build an “Outback” trail that goes from the new gate to Asia just west of the bird show. This trail would also connect to the path between the train station and conservation station.
Agreed. Moreover, DVCMC is not transparent on how they allocate transportation costs between hotels, DVC and parks. Before I start paying for upkeep of a new Skiliner, I'd want to know exactly what percentage of the overall costs is allocated to SSRI am sure there would be support for this idea, but as a DVC owner at both SSR and OKW, I do not want the cost of building, operating, and maintaining it to be added to our annual fees. (not to mention having to deal with the additional foot traffic going through our resorts)
Personally, I prefer the boat ride to get to DS.
Now, if they could figure out how to get the boats to go over to EPCOT and/or HS.......
.
Allow any store or restaurant to “validate” parking at DS. Problem solved.I doubt the stores and restaurants at DS would be OK with charging to park.
If they're going to make visiting DS punitive, or penalize the Skyliner route, they don't need to bother doing it at all - and perhaps that's why they haven't yet.
Not sure of the logistics of it, but I like this idea! Much better than Skyliner.Actually I recommended elsewhere that they run a train from AK to HS, which would link it to transportation from the other parks. A train would probably be easier to do than a Skyliner and more in fitting with these two parks. It could be themed accordingly.
Yea, but that's only part of the equation. With no fees for parking now, there's nothing set up to handle people having to pay and validating they've paid. That's another layer of administration and tech that needs to be paid for and added. With several parking garages and also surface parking, it's not a simple solution.Allow any store or restaurant to “validate” parking at DS. Problem solved.
I think they have it already - they call it the boat!!Still waiting on the monorail to OKW and SSR. There are right always for it.

I don’t think they’d ever consider that, just because they’re having a hard enough time keeping the current routes serviced and maintained with older generation mechanics. If they did, it would have a totally different look, something akin to Tokyo Disney Resort’s trains or the Las Vegas monorail system.I think they have it already - they call it the boat!!
I wonder if they'll ever pay to add monorails anywhere in the future? That is probably not something they'll be doing. Interesting thought, though!
There's an easy fix to that. Just charge for parking at DS and offer parking validation for spending a certain amount at DS locations, which is really what they should be doing even without a Skyliner route if they want to bring the bus routes from the parks to DS back. It's a shame that current resort guests get punished by not having a parks-DS bus lines because of people trying to save money.Doubt Disney would even consider this for DS (or a stop at SSR convenient to DS). It would just encourage people to park there to go to the parks and avoid parking fees.
