How about a DVC Debate Board?

Pete, Robin, Carol, Doc....

There have been a number of issues debated on this board here, EG rental points, how many in a Studio/1BR, etc, and some of these have been moved to the general debate board. However, it's also been noted that many people coming to the DVC forum would not think of going to the debate board for DVC information.

I believe the free exchange of many important, debatable issues is important, but also would be relevant to those persons seeking information about DVC.

Here's a suggestion: Under the DVC board menu we have 2 boards: The discussion board and the Rent/Trade board. How about adding a 3rd board, the 'DVC debate' (or other title as appropriate) board there? Threads could be started or moved there as needed, keeping the discussion board more general and more informational, and some of these hot topics to their own DVC board. It would also keep DVC discussions under the DVC banner and not put them out with general debate that goes everywhere from politics to personal lifestyles.

Open debate is good and helpful. I've gotten involved in a few myself, but it would be nice to see them somewhere other than the general DVC discussion board.

Don't know what it would entail to create a new board. It's just a thought.

Anybody else have thoughts?

I can pretty confidently state that there will not be a DVC debate board. We have an existing debate board and you are welcome to post over there.

debate board is almost one too many in my opinion. Life is just too darn short as it is.

Well, Caskbill, I agree with you--good idea. People who want to avoid the debate just don't have to go there, but people who are new and interested in all aspects of the decision to purchase, would have the issues openly and readily available to them.

It appears though that it's not open for discussion.

IMHO,we have a very viable avenue already for discussion (debate) about DVC topics- right here on this very Board
.
The few topics which have ever been locked on this Board have been treated that way because of the tendency to abuse the general DIS guidelines, NOT because of the topic itself. The vast majority of topics on this board are discussed with respect for others and have no need to be locked. The ONLY topic which has been resurrected on the Debate board is the occupancy thread, which has always evoked emotions to the point of guideline abuse.

A separate board ONLY for DVC debate would serve no useful purpose (again, MHO) since we already have that function on this very Board.

The topics which seem to generate the most disagreement and heated discussion are those which involve personal interpretation the contractual agreements which we have all signed.

As long as we all respect the DIS guidelines, no topics need to be closed.
