When you host a housewarming, what kind of foods do you serve? Is finger foods good to serve? And as far as finger foods go, what's the best finger foods to serve, IYO? If finger foods aren't preferred, what else is?:)

Thanks.:)

I would probably offer one of those crock pot BBQ meatballs dishes too.

Did you move into a new house?

We just went to a housewarming party on Saturday. They served a variety plus we all brought a dish to pass. Here's what they served:

veggie platter
garlic bread
bowls of nuts and chex mix
cheese cake
grilled pork tendorloin

I think finger foods for a housewarming is definitely ok. I would have some hot and some cold foods served buffet style. Some things that come to mind are finger sandwiches or a deli platter; deviled eggs; sausage and peppers; veggie platter; fruit platter; little weinnies or cocktail meatballs; the possibilities are endless.

Along with the other options, how about a salad? Maybe a lasagna or baked ziti dish?

Just a thought -

I know I don't like to serve meatballs or cocktail weenies in BBQ simply for the issue of spilling and light colored carpet.

Just something to think about.

A veggie pizza might work or tortilla rollups.

Yum, that sounds good. I think I'll try that for dinner one night.
We are invited to a house warming Labor Day weekend. It's going to be a BBQ.

Thanks for all the ideas, everyone.:)

Vonabella, does the turkey have any beer taste to it afterwards? I know the alcohol cooks out, but I don't like the way beer tastes.:o

no beer taste at all!

you just slice it up (or shred it) and serve it with kaisers or rolls and bbq sauce. really, really, really good!!

We had various finger food (too many people have to real sit down dinner).

Buffalo wings
spring rolls
scillion pancake
fried noodles
chips & dips
bruchetta (tomato over bread)
cheese plate
veggie dips
fresh sautee green beans (too many vegetarian friends)

And lots of good wine & beer. :)
