Has the quality improved? When we last stayed DVC (2013??) it was a mess. It really depends on how picky you are, but wifey is pickey. The rooms were generally... Disgusting. Now perhaps that has changed. Perhaps some here don't look quite as hard. Perhaps some here won't admit it.

That said, paying the rack rate for a room (since we sold) has been a notable improvement.

Thoughts??

How many rooms did you stay in back in 2013? and which resorts? What do you mean by 'disgusting' and also being 'picky?'

We stayed in 3 DVC rooms in March/April and all were clean no real issues, we didn't have any issues in 2013 either.

Biggest issue we had was they didn't replenish things like toilet roll so we had to call and ask.

It's a mixed bag, sometimes you get a clean room that doesn't have maintenance issues other times you don't. With DVCMC currently scheduling soft and hard good rehabs at all of the resorts at the same time, they apparently either woke up or maybe someone with power stayed in a room that needed work.

Bottom line the work should help improve the room conditions, I wonder if our dues will increase?

We stayed at BLT in 2015 and 2016 and had no issues with cleanliness, and I'm a nut about that. We just stayed at the Polynesian and thought it was a little dusty but not totally disgusting. I bring Clorox wipes and wipe everything whether it looks clean or not, so that didn't really bother me.

We had a refurbished BWV studio this past April. It was pristine. :)

I guess its all in the eye of the beholder....I have stayed at DVC resorts since 1996, owned since 2000....and I have never stayed in any room that would come close to "disgusting"....some minor grievances here and there....but when it comes to DVC resorts, you know you ae doing your own housekeeping up front....frankly i prefer it

Never had a time where I could label a room disgusting. I'm not hypercritical.

I have always had CRO stays along with DVC and can say I have never noticed a difference in quality. My worst room was a CRO stay a few years ago so I completely disagree with the thought that had anything to do with it and believe it's just dependent on the particular housekeeping CM.

Members since 2007, we've never had issues with housekeeping. Would I consider the rooms pristine? No, but they're not any worse than any other hotel room we've stayed at all over the country. If there is an issue, a quick phone call usually takes care of the problem. I still use my Clorox wipes to wipe down the remotes, phone, toilet seat, and run the dishes we may use in the dishwasher prior to use. They don't look dirty, it just makes me feel better.

I agree that "disgusting" was probably an exaggeration...

That said, I remember my first DVC stay in September of 2002.
I pulled back the bed spread and on the underside of it was a humungous urine stain.

Anyway, it is very good to hear things are getting better.

We have only had one room not cleaned properly and it was taken care of immediately. We have since never had a room not clean. We have a few minor maintienance issues, that were also taken care of in satisfactory and timely fashion. We have no complaint.

We had a GV at OKW two years ago that was disappointing. The master bedroom was pristine but the bathrooms and bedrooms upstairs appeared to be forgotten. The kitchen floor was vacuumed but not washed. We too always bring Clorox wipes and did our own cleaning.

Never in 13 years had a problem with rooms. They are not always perfect but always clean

Another vote for, "Mixed bag."

Last month we found a pair of used towels hanging over the jetted tub at the Grand Cal -- but everything else seemed good. We chalked it up to a minor oversight and enjoyed the good towels. However, we are still gritting our teeth over three really awful stays at BWV wrt Housekeeping and Maintenance issues. In each case the room we were assigned SHOULD have been taken out of service. In one of these cases were were permitted a room change; the other two were peppered with visits from staff trying to correct the situation step by step -- rather than moving us to a good room while they serviced those assigned to us. Very disappointing.

Sanitizing with wipes due to personal preference is different than cleaning a room that should have been cleaned and maintained.

I hate having to waste my vacation time while housekeeping and maintenance does their job that should have been completed prior to our checking in. We met a cleaning crew at SSR who's job is to clean rooms not cleaned correctly by the day crew. Seems like the system expects to have cleaning issues. IMO that's just poor management or do they know that they can get away with it?

Well, there are no bedspreads any more, just triple sheeted beds with a thicker "sheet" on top with a bed scarf.

I'm not picky but I've noticed an improvement in housekeeping. During one of my four day stay at Poly I had housekeeping come in while I was out empty trash and provide fresh towels, make the bed and vacuum. The very next day housekeeping knocked on my door and asked if I needed anything.
