I was hoping somebody could tell me how it works if you want to have DAILY housekeeping when using a DVC Villa? I know that you do not get houskeeping everyday..but heard you can purchase it for $$ extra a day? Is that correct? Can anybody tell me how much it is a day?

I am not certain if this is the most up to date information but last time I checked it was $30 per day for additional full cleanings and Trash & Towel service is $10 per additional day. This can be scheduled at check-in and you only pay for the days you want the room cleaned

Not positive, but doesn't it go by your unit size? Studio/1br/2br...? I remember it being pretty steep. One of our friends has the entire list, so when they wake up, I'm sure they'll post it.

Hannabug, you are correct. I normaly get a 1 brv and was going by that.

I looked it up and the rates are as follows:

Studio/Inn Room - $25.00 per day requested
One-Bedroom - $30.00 per day requested
Two-Bedroom - $40.00 per day requested
Grand Villa - $60.00 per day requested
Trash & Towel - $10.00 per day requested.

Here are all the "pay as you play" prices:
Toiletries Package, $5.00 - 1 facial soap, 1 bath soap, 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner, 1 shower gel
Coffee Package, $3.00 - 1 package of coffee, 8 sugars, 8 creamers, 8 artificial sweeteners
Towel Package, $6.00 - 4 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 4 washcloths, 1 bath mat
Laundry Detergent (only in One-, Two-, and Three-bedroom Vacation Homes), $1.00 - 1 box

Additional Full Cleaning Rates:
Studio/Inn Room - $30.00 per day requested
One-Bedroom - $45.00 per day requested
Two-Bedroom - $60.00 per day requested
Three-Bedroom - $75.00 per day requested

Additional Trash & Towel Rates:
Studio/Inn Room - $15.00 per day requested
One-Bedroom - $20.00 per day requested
Two-Bedroom - $25.00 per day requested
Three-Bedroom - $35.00 per day requested

Just in case you're like I was, I'll tell you what happened to us. Before joining DVC, not having daily maid service was a real sticking point. We finally joined DVC in spite of not having daily maid service, but were pretty sure we'd want to pay the extra for it. After one DVC stay, we found that we really liked not having daily maid service-it added to the "our home away from home" feel. After all those years of not joining DVC partly due to the lack of daily maid service, I was so surprised at our reaction.

Us too. I thought it would bug me, but after my first stay I realized it was not a big deal. Actually in my case my DH makes the bed every morning at home, so does it on vacation too (sometimes I help him). We always tidy up the room before leaving for the day the same as we would do at home.

There are trash disposal facilities at each DVC you can make use of at any time. Just ask at the front desk when you check-in for locations if you're not sure where they are.

I still miss daily maidservice. I don't miss it $60 a day worth. But I do miss it. I know I'm in the minority of DVC members, but for me one of the treats in traveling is to get my bed made everyday and my towels picked up off the bathroom floor. Its like being a little kid and having Mom pick up after you.

Those are the old rates, they were increased last year. What Diane posted in the next post are the new prices.

I also prefer the timeshare way of doing housekeeping. Having people come in everyday is a pain and totally unecessary for me. When you have a full kitchen and washer/dryer, those hotel-style houskeeping visits just aren't needed, at least for me.

out timeshare in the caribbean has daily housekeeping, freshly laundered and pressed sheets daily!!! Nothing like getting into bed on freshly ironed sheets!!! sure dont get that at home!

Even in a hotel with full housekeeping I am not sure they change sheets daily, I thought it was every 3 or 4 days. But towels can be daily unless you opt to keep them for a few more days.

I like DVC and no worries about housekeeping coming in every day.

This could have been my kids posting this reply except we are from NJ. I am a pin nut mom. I initially was concerned about the lack of daily maid service as well but rather like not having to worry about putting my pins away when not in the room.

Only thing I fret about is the lack of fresh wash clothes except for every 4 days. I usually change mine out every other day as they get used up. In a 1bedroom or higher it's not a big deal since we just toss them in the washer, but the long studio stays have me fretting. I'll be doing 14 days in a studio this October and I'm concerned. I picked up one of those pop-up hampers to help haul the laundry over to the pool at least every other day.

As far as making the beds, I despise all bedspreads so not having someone keep putting the thing back on everyday is a plus for me. It's easy enough to just straighten out your own sheets and fluff your pillow. I do it everyday at home anyway.

No daily maid service is something that i LOVE about the DVC! It allows me to sleep in if i want and not have to worry about them coming in if I don't answer

HOWEVER...

just because you aren't scheduled for a service, doesn't mean they can't still come into your room if you aren't there. One time, we were scheduled, and the maid knocked and litterally just barged right in... ya know, the kind some doctors do.. (quick) knock and opens the door right away...

I didn't even have time to get to the door and I even said 'hold on just a second...' but she didn't speak english, so it didn't do any good.

anyway, my point is... on an off day they COULD assume that you are at the parks or something if you don't answer and it would be a good time for them to go in a grab anything they'd like.

so please.... if you leave your stuff just laying around (which i KNOW my family does ... keep tabs of what you have and where you have it! That way you will know if you are missing something when you get back.)

I've heard of stories on here when maids will go into rooms and steal stuff.
