I know a lot of people tip mousekeeping at Disney, I am just wondering do people do the same at the Universal Hotels? I rarely stay anywhere but Disney for more than a few days so I'm not sure the proper tipping etiquette?

We have stayed at RPR for the past few years and we are on a tight budget so we usually wait till the end of our stay and we leave a note with a tip thanking them for the great job the did for us while there :thumbsup2

We leave a few dollars each day just in case the same housekeeper is not cleaning our room the whole time.

Same with us...we leave $5 per room (usually have two rooms)...with 2 people in one and 3 in the other.

We leave a $1 per person per day. For us thats normally $3.:goodvibes

We leave $5/day per room because housekeeping personnel can change from day to day. If I remember, I leave $2 for turn down service. I also seem to forget unless I am in the room at when they arrive to do it.

We keep up the do not disturb sign while we are there and just leave a tip of a few dollars per day when we check out. I don't like people cleaning my room.

I did not actually leave tips when I was there last summer. It was kind of new to me, so I wasn't really prepared for it.

I ordered room service one night, and the guy who brought it to me tried to hang around in my room making awkward conversation for about a minute, which I found very creepy.

Now I know he was probably just trying to encourage me to tip him.

I feel bad, so I will probably splash out on tips when I am there in 6 weeks time! :wizard: I would say $10 for room service, $3 for housekeeping daily, and $5 for a rickshaw driver!

If I have any spending money left after all that, I must get myself a Hermione wand... :lmao:

Thanks all. Sounds like I should do the same as what I would do at Disney. We generally leave a $1 a day per person. so about $4 a day. I never thought about the room service person! Thanks for mentioning it. We order room service a lot at Disney and that tip is included in the room service using the dining plan.

We need a name for Universal's housekeeping. Mousekeeping is cute for disney!

I stayed at RPR one night last summer and ordered room service for breakfast. The bill automatically included a $3 delivery charge and a 22% gratuity.

Yes! Don't double tip the room service person, although they usually will tell you.

Same goes for the bars at RPR the tip is included and I know this is about housekeeping but thought I would throw it out there :lmao:

We always print off an envelope for each day of our stay with the date on, a picture of one of the rides from Universal or IOA and a "thank you to our maid" written on the front. We leave it every day by the sink area with $1 per person in it.

:thumbsup2 We do the same thing....I hate having people I don't know coming into my room...

That's what we do...Usually leave $5 per day.(4 of us one room)

In keeping with the Harry Potter theme, we will tip $5 each day to "the house elf" :lovestruc

or is that a little patronizing? :confused3

Wow, I think I over tipped and we were worried it was not enough. We stayed at Hard Rock just 1 night. (way to much $ for me!) and we left $20 for the house keeper. I have to say the room was spotless and everything was in it's place. I wish the house keepers were in charge of soft beds and cold AC. 2 things we did not get to enjoy.

I'm sorry your beds were hard. The a/c at all three hotels are "Smart Room Technology for automated heating and air conditioning". Just set the temp at where you want and it will turn on and off when you enter and leave the room. All three hotels are eco friendly resorts.:thumbsup2
