Hello Experts,
I have always stayed in DVC on cash in the past so I am looking for some help about Housekeeping when staying on points.
I understand that for a 7 night stay we will receive Trash and Towel service on day 4. They will empty the trash and leave fresh towels then.
Do they replace the starter toiletries at this point? What about laundry soap? Is there enough Dishwasher detergent for 7 days?
I am sure we will need to empty our trash and in particular recyclables before day 4. Isn't there a place on each floor to bring your own trash to? Is there an extra bag in the waste basket?
Thanks for answering my silly questions.

According to the member website Trash & Towel Service includes:

With Trash & Towel service, Housekeeping will:

Empty trash and replace liners in trash bins.
Provide fresh bathroom linens.
Replace shampoo, facial soap and bath soap.
Replenish facial tissues, paper towels and toilet paper.
Replenish coffee, sugar, cream and sweeteners.
Replenish dishwashing liquid, dishwashing detergent, sponges and laundry detergent as needed in One-, Two- and Three-Bedroom Vacation Homes.

Every DVC resort has areas for trash and recyclable disposal. The locations will vary. For instance at OKW the trash/recycle room is on the first floor, under one of the stairwells, in each building. There should be additional trash bags in the bottom of each waste basket, if you run out, call housekeeping, or as for more when you see a housekeeper.

Laundry soap, in one bedroom & larger units, will be one single load box. You may purchase more at the resort store, or pack some in your luggage in a ziploc. Also if you run out of dishwasher detergent, call housekeeping.

Thanks for the Quick Response Chuck S. Your answers are what I expected.
Thank You Again

We find we need to pack toiletries - shampoo (we have a four person family - it just doesn't stretch far enough in a studio or one bedroom). And laundry detergent. Also coffee and filters.

(We can stretch their box of laundry detergent over a few loads of towels if we really want to. And we have stretched the shampoo that far).

There are extra trash bags, laundry detergent - basically what you need to do basic cleaning of THEIR property is included - cleaning YOUR property or cleaning theirs beyond the minimal is pretty much up to you.

I have another question regarding housekeeping. As a new DVC member I'm curious what is expected as far as cleaning when you check out? I assume your expected to wash the dishes, but then I wonder just how good the previous occupant washed them....

You're not really expected to do anything. Whatever you decide to do, or not, is entirely up to you but certainly not required.

As far as washing the dishes (1 bedroom or larger), I usually load the dish washer and start it. Then the housekeeper knows they were washed when she comes in. In a studio, I leave the dirty dishes in the sink, they will use a commercial washer.

I like to make it easier for the Housekeepers so they can get the rooms turned over more quickly. I'll strip the beds, pile all the towels in the tub, put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, empty the refrigerator and get all the trash in the trash can.
