Housekeeping Question

As someone planning to buy DVC, I want to know what the deal is with housekeeping. I understand that it is limited when you use points. Can you pay to have regular (daily) housekeeping services? And if so, how much does it cost for a one bedroom?

If you're staying less than eight nights you get trash and towel service on day four. If you're there more than eight nights, you get full cleaning on day four, trash and towel on day eight. I believe a one-bedroom would be $30 per day for full housekeeping.

Before we joined we weren't sure if we would like this situation but we actually do. We have no problem throwing the dishes in the dishwasher and making the beds every morning. Granted, we don't do a great job, it's hasty, and I don't think we've ever used the vacuum. But I like being able to come back at any point in the day and knowing the housekeeper isn't there.

There are washer and dryers right there for you to throw the towels into. At OKW you can take the garbage right out to a room that is located at every unit. What you will find is that you spend much more time at the resort and will be going in and out of your unit so you really don't want anyone there. I wish they would do away with the trash and towel service altogether, who needs them there in your room. If you buy in I think you will feel the same way.

You can pay for full cleanings if you like:

The price per day is by size of unit:

Studio - $25
1 Bedroom - $30
2 Bedroom - $40
GV - $60

You can get additional Trash & Towel service in any size unit for $10 per day. Or, you can purchase additional towel packages for $6 (4 each of bathtowel, washcloth and handtowel, 1 bath mat)

The daily housekeeping is over rated. When we first joined we paid for daily trash and towel. But after a while we really wondered why? Since then we haven't used anything other than the normal services. It is really easy to toss the towels in the washing machine before heading out in the morning.

We've been members since Nov 97 and haven't missed the daily housekeeping once. We make the bed and hang up our towels at home, so we do it at DVC. It's great not having housekeeping interrupting your vacation.

We thought that we would miss the housekeeping but now we like NOT having it! We just got home from OKW today. We had housekeeping for a day that we paid cash instead of points. It was a pain making sure valuables were locked up and wondering if our room would be finished when we came back from the parks. So what if we don't feel like making the bed?
