Housekeeping poll #3

Check all that apply

  • Bathroom should be as clean as I keep my home bathroom

  • Bathroom should be CLEANER than my home bathroom

  • No "little hairs" please!

  • I expect at least one towel for each accupant up to occupancy

  • I think we should have MORE towels than occupancy

  • ALL bedding should be clean when I arrive (including spread)

  • I can live with understanding that the spread is changed weekly

  • I expect there to be no evidence in the kitchen of previous guests

  • I want the floors scrubbed before I arrive

  • I expect ALL the dishes to have been rewashed before I arrive

  • I expect all carpets to be vacuumed

  • I expect spots to be cleaned from furniture

This one deals with our expectations upon ARRIVAL at our DVC villa.

Interesting that some think the bathroom should be cleaner than at home. Not sure why we would have different expectations there.

This poll is starting to give me an idea of where I think we might find short comings in current DVC mousekeeping prior to our arrival. I think I'll start a 4th one about that.

With five people, at any given time, if someone walks in, there is always something in there that needs attention. A few hairs on the floor, garbage bag might need to be changed, mirror might have toothpaste, etc. If I clean it and it stays that way - then I would want the DVC bathroom the same - but when I walk in for the first time in a DVC bathroom - I don't expect to have do do any of the things above - not sure if that made sense.:confused3 or perhaps I should have just voted as clean as my bathroom at home.

Finding my own hair on the floor in the bathroom isn't as disgusting as finding someone elses.

Because my bathroom can get pretty nasty - but I know it's my mildew and my hair and my guys' splashes around the toilet. ;) I hate cleaning the bathroom. Maybe the housekeepers do, too.

Given this post, I'd say , yes, that is how you should have voted.

Any residual grime in my bathrooms at home orignated from me, DH or DS. I can choose to live with it or clean it.

There is no telling where residual grime in a villa came from, so I would prefer not to have residual grime when I check in. :)

LOL, so which 2% doesn't think the carpets should be vacuumed when you arrive????

IMHO any public restroom should be sanitized and cleaned to a better standard as compared to our personal bathrooms that are only used by our own family.

What I want is my bathroom at DVC to be as clean as the bathroom at the Grand Floridian in the Presidental Suite.

Yes, I want the bathroom clean -no hair please. One towel for each person is fine. I can do towels in my DVC washer/dryer. I want the floors and the rugs clean. Fresh linens on the bed. I do not use the bedspread near my face.
I always put the dishes, glasses, flatware etc in the dishwasher and wipe the counter and table.

When I arrive, the bathroom should be cleaner than my bathroom at home - because it should be freshly cleaned and because unlike my bathroom at home, there isn't the junk that clutters the bathroom (and keeps my bathroom from being really clean) - the facewash bottle that hasn't been wiped down and the six jars of "stuff" and the candles that don't dust well and the hair do dads from my daughter cluttering up the basic.

My bathroom at home is "sanitary" after I clean it - but it isn't "clean" - if you understand the difference.

I agree with the previous posters. If it is my gross stuff at home it is still gross but I know the germs however when I check into DVC I don't want anyone elses gross stuff in my bathroom period. Or in my room for that matter. Now during my stay if it is a week or less then I can clean anything I feel needs to be cleaned mousekeeping doesn't need to do it. And for stays over a week I usually wash the towels and my own sheets from home that I bring with me.

I guess after reading some posts, that I WOULD expect better bathroom cleaning. My first thought was "I do a damn good job cleaning the bathroom", so I wouldn't expect better, but it is true that anything left behind is not from me or my family and not acceptable.

Nice polls Diane... heading for #4

Did not respond to bathroom options. I expect the bathroom to be clean, period.

The response to rewashing all the dishes is surprising to me. I've never found a dirty dish in the cabinet and don't expect the housekeepers to rewash them all before I check in. Maybe that's why I've never found a dirty one. They've rewashed them all before I check in. :confused3
