Does housekeeping at WDW resorts skip cleaning your room if you're not out of your room by a certain time?

On our last trip there, housekeeping was cleaning rooms on our floor at our Little Mermaid room and as we were leaving, we saw they has just passed by our room. When we returned that night, we saw they did not clean it, give us new towels, or anything. We didn't have a Do Not Disturb sign out.

No. They should clean your room. It must have been an oversight. Did it happen just once?

Just once, our last day there. But the other days preceding that we left before housekeeping came around, so we thought we goofed up by not being out of our room early. Do they come around again later to clean if you aren't out early morning?

Yes, they should come around later. Sometimes, we don't leave our room til early afternoon. They always come by.

We usually call right before we leave our room and request for the room to be made up early. We do mid-daybreaks and hate coming back with housekeeping in our room and a cranky, tired toddler. Just call housekeeping directly next time, they are usually pretty responsive.

This is EXACTLY what I resorted to doing after it seemed like housekeeping wouldn't come. We'd leave early in the morning - be back and at 2pm and the room was uncleaned - and had kids that needed to nap. By the time that was done it was 5pm and housekeeping had left. Even if you aren't coming back until 10pm you can still call and say that you are leaving and would like it cleaned by dinner time. I haven't had as much trouble with that lately at resorts but it has happened.

I also discovered that now that my 18 year old son will stay in the room (while we are at a conference) that if they notice they won't clean the room so I have to call and tell them he is in there but they should knock and he will leave. Not sure what else to do in that situation.

[Ditto to that. I call housekeeping as soon as we are leaving for breakfast.

Thanks so much, you guys. I didn't know calling housekeeping directly and requesting our room to be cleaned by "x" time was an option. That will help us tremendously.

Please be aware that they will try, but they cannot always guarantee cleaning your room by a certain time.

Perhaps it is a higher priority to clean the rooms that have just been vacated. Remember how happy you'd be if you room was ready as soon as you got to the resort.

I spent over a decade working in hospitality. This is definitively the way virtually all hotels operate. Checkout rooms are always cleaned before "stayover" rooms.

During our recent trip, we had one day where mousekeeping didn't clean our room when my husband was still there but just leaving. Another day, the same thing happened but they came back and cleaned it. I don't know what made the difference unless they just forgot to come back that first time.

This happened to me too at my last stay at ASMo, several days of our stay...

This time I will take this advise and call for early service when we go to breakfast...
Good idea!
