Hotel housekeeping is still light cleaning every other day. If you check in Sunday, you’ll have service on Tuesday.

Prior to Your Arrival
Your room will undergo comprehensive cleaning—with added attention to:

• High-touch areas, like TV remotes and door handles
• Floors, which will be steam cleaned and vacuumed between Guests

During Your Stay
Your room will receive light housekeeping service every other day (unless you choose to decline the service). This service will include:

• Removal of trash and used towels
• Replenishment of towels and amenities throughout room and bathroom
• Wiping and cleaning of the vanity and counter surfaces
• Vacuuming, if needed

In addition, housekeeping tools will be cleaned between rooms.
Inside Your Room

• Individually wrapped glassware
• Additional items that have been cleaned, sealed or wrapped in single-use packaging

Disney Vacation Club
If you’re a Disney Vacation Club Member using your Membership to stay, you’ll receive service on the 4th and 8th days, unless you decide to decline the service.

This still frustrates me as a DVC member …. With housekeeping only every 4 days….I so wish they would allow us to purchase daily housekeeping as an extra fee …..or what’s even more frustrating is the cost of annual dues going up annually and never get any improvement on this service …with the annual dues we are paying way over the odds and should be entitled to daily housekeeping,….we pay enough….

I think it really depends on where you are staying. We just stayed at VGF from 10/4-10/9 (on a cash reservation) and, surprisingly, had full housekeeping every day.

Dues are based on operating costs, which are audited. Additional housekeeping would increase dues. I don’t understand why they eliminated purchased housekeeping, I assume due to short staff.

I was just at BWV, we had to ask for new towels on day 4, housekeeping came in to collect trash around 5:00, I asked about our towel service, he didn’t know but went and got us new towels.

While they only offered towel and trash every other day, I asked if I could request full daily housekeeping and they said yes. I also spoke with the housekeepers that I saw on our floor each morning, letting them know when we were leaving the room for the day so that they could clean on their schedule, as well as to let them know I left them a cash tip in the room (since all paper and pens have been eliminated from the rooms, so could not leave a note easily…).

So in the WDW on property resorts, can I ask for full housekeeping or is it just not available?

You can certainly ask, but YMMV. As I mentioned in my post above, we had full housekeeping, every day, at VGF about two weeks ago - this was a complete change from our stay at YC in mid-June when we had no daily service at all (just dropping off towels/toiletries). As an FYI, we stayed at the Swan for 2 nights prior to our VGF stay and had no housekeeping at all - we could have requested extra towels/toiletries, but they were not cleaning rooms. We also stayed at a number of hotels in Wyoming over the summer and had zero housekeeping, so stating other resorts all over the country are back to full housekeeping isn't accurate. WDW is trying to recruit more housekeepers and are even offering sign-on bonuses. So, it's certainly not for lack of trying on WDW's part, IMHO. If VGF is any indicator, full housekeeping may be back at most resorts sooner rather than later.

I hope you are right that housekeeping is coming back. But I am not optimistic. Businesses have seen a way to cut their costs while still charging the guests “4 star” rates, so why not. I own my own business and I absolutely realize how difficult it is to hire people right now. But I also know that if it is a priority to me as a business owner, there is a pay level that will attract workers. It is likely much more than I am used to paying. But if Disney prioritizes hiring house cleaners, then they will have housecleaners. It is a financial choice that they are making. Disney has not adjusted the room rates to reflect the savings that they are making by not paying the “going rate” for housekeepers. I can vote with my wallet and choose to stay elsewhere, certainly. But it is very frustrating.

I think neither of us can say that “our experience” over the summer or even last week for me at DLH is “the standard” throughout the hotel industry as far as if housekeeping is back. But I will say that if Disney wants to charge rates of a 4 star hotel like the Four Seasons, Ritz, etc, then their competitors brought back daily housekeeping a few months ago and they are behind. But then again, the Disney resorts have always charged a 4 star rate for a less than 4 star hotel experience. Many people (myself included) paid it because it offered other benefits. Now I am not so sure that the benefits are enough. But plenty of people think they are, as evidenced by the resort non-availability over the holidays.

No vacuuming, bathroom was not cleaned, beds were not made the entire stay. We have stayed at a dozen or so lower end hotels Hampton Inns and the like while touring colleges for my son this summer. All provided daily housekeeping. Will not be returning to a Disney hotel anytime soon.

I agree 1000%. Disney is just doing a money grab. There is no reason that cleaning my room is a “health risk” while me going to their theme park or DTD is not a “health risk”. So their refusal to clean rooms is completely a monetary decision. I will not be staying in a Disney hotel without housekeeping at these prices.

Did you ask for daily housekeeping and were refused, or did not ask? I am not blaming you at all either way, I am just trying to see if it is available IF you ask?

Also stayed at Beach Club last week. Online check-in offered service every other day or not at all. We chose every other day. We received full service the first day we expected (after 2nd night). We did not get full service after 4th night as we expected…it was light cleaning and change of towels. Housekeeping did not take our tip that day.

They will take trash and change towels upon request or if you see them in the hallway. I saw people leave trash outside their doors. There are extra trash bags under the trash bag in the can. It was fine to me.

We received the same treatment at the Hard Rock Hotel in Universal…but did not get any full service days there.

I think the point is, there is no industry standard right now and there is a huge, IMHO, pent-up demand to travel. Disney will keep charging these prices as long as people will pay them. We are traveling the week before Christmas and deluxe availability is wide-open with no discounts in sight. We will see if Disney decides their pricing is sustainable - I'm hoping the answer is no!

For my 8 night upcoming stay at the YC in February, at the cost of $800 per night (not including park tickets), I guess I really shouldn't expect having full service for that "low" price. I really wish I didn't have an addiction to Disney. If I had any sense I'd just tell them I'm done. I keep saying I'm going cold turkey and no more Disney. But I continue to pay the money (and more of it), thank them for cutting more and more, and then blowing pixie dust up my back end and telling me how much better it is. I really wish I could kick this addiction. I do think I'm getting really close though.

Here now at WL. They’ve replaced our towels and taken our trash (day 2) but it’s the middle of the night and we just realized they didn’t leave new toilet paper or tissues. We are down to a few tissues left. Some expensive camping we are doing

We were just at Popcentury last week. Id say expect minimal housekeeping - it was very hit or miss for us. Light cleaning was supposed to be done every other day but 2x they never showed and we ran out of towels. Apparently light housekeeping only means empty the trash, recycling and give you new towels (we didnt get those most of the time) - nothing else no vac, no new sheets etc. Got really annoying for what the room rates are.

We were at CSR 2 weeks ago for 6 nights. We had to call on our 3rd day to request new towels and for the trash to be taken out. That was the only time they came to our room.

Definitely complain if you were supposed to have housekeeping and they don't do it. Some of the housekeeping staff have been intentionally marking rooms completed or room occupied instead of doing them as a way to lighten their daily workload. I got someone at AoA in trouble over this when I didn't have housekeeping service and complained to the AoA general manager.

I have seen LOTS of Housekeepers "Earning Their Ears" the last few days at All-Star Music.

May not mean anything but HOPEFULLY it could be an indication Disney is finally going to begin "ramping up" for a return to Daily Housekeeping.
