Housekeeping at Villas?

One of the comments about the Home-Away-from-Home accommodations is that they have "less frequent housekeeping" than a hotel. I can make my own bed, no problem, but what about fresh towels for each day? The unit we're renting doesn't have a W/D. Anything else I should be aware of/take with me?

Are you booking the villa through DVC or as an individual? I believe if you book it through CRO then you do get housekeeping, if you book through DVC or rent points, then you are best asking on the DVC board. I think they do a 'Towel and Trash' every 4 days, and I know there are laundry rooms you can use if you are in a studio.

Are you renting points from a DVC member or paying cash directly to WDW? If you're paying cash directly to WDW, you'll receive daily housekeeping. If you've rented points from a DVC member, you'll receive the same limited housekeeping that DVC members receive. You'll receive a change of towels on the 4th day of your stay. If you wish to receive fresh towels daily, you'll either need to do laundry, or pay for this service. An extra towel pack, they don't take the old ones away, costs $6. Trash and towel service is $10 per day, they will remove your used towels, replace them with fresh ones and remove the trash. They also will replace any used soaps, shampoos, etc. You can also get a full cleaning for $25 per day, I'm assuming you're staying in a studio since you say you won't have a w/d.

Just back from BCV. We booked through CRO and had mousekeeping everyday. We stayed in a 1 bdrm and had a W/D. Our room happened to be close to the laundry room. There were 2 washers and 2 driers and a TV and a couple of chairs. We brought different sized baggies for chips and leftovers. The rooms are very well stocked with kitchens items you may use. One thing I didn't see mentioned is that you get more towels. We've rented points for a one bedroom once and studios twice. We've always had plenty of towels. Check under the sinks.

I'm a member of DVC, so we get the less frequent housekeeping. This was the main thing that held me back from joining DVC-my concern about the housekeeping schedule. However, I'm very happy to say everything worked out great in that area! There are always plenty of towels-yes, often there are extras in cabinets under the sink or in the closet.

Question? I am staying in Studio 2 nights renting from DVC. Do I have to spend my last day washing the sheet, towels & scrubbing the studio? Housekeeping does these things right? I know I have to clean up after myself- not a slob. I can make the beds do the dishes, wipe down the place. I just never thought of the linens and things. I know they are there just never thought. You mean doesnt do them.

In at least 15 DVC trips, I have never had extra towels in the cabinets or under the sinks. And I have looked. We have only gotten the 4 towels/two face cloths/4 hand towels in a one bedroom or studio. If you got extra I think it was probably a fluke.

We use the towels at DVC just like at home. Use it and hang it up and reuse it.

No, you don't have to clean up anymore than you do in a regular hotel room. I always do the dishes, but often leave them clean in the dishwasher. I wouldn't worry about making the bed.. they will just have to unmake it to strip it.

I have rented cabins at the beach or the mountains, so I know what you mean about spending the last day cleaning. I hate it! No worries about that at WDW!

When we use the DVC studios on points I always pack some extra wash cloths from home (the girls and I always need extra for washing our faces at night and removing the makeup). I make sure my wash cloths are colored so I can tell them apart from Disney's white ones. On our towels we usually just hang our towels up and let them dry after we use them (we're clean when we step out of the shower). I do laundry in the free washers and dryers provided for studio guests on my next to the last day of my stay (washing up the wash cloths I brought and any dirty clothes we have). If you stay for longer than four days, you get trash and towel changes on the 4th day (maids always give us more shampoo, soap, coffee, also). I love the limited housekeeping because I don't have to worry about someone in the room everyday.

If we stay in the 1 or 2 bedrooms, there are washer and dryers in those units.

You don't have to clean any DVC unit when you leave. Housekeeping strips the rooms/linens just like any other Walt Disneyworld hotel. We always like to tip housekeeping extra on the day we leave, especially well for the bigger units, because I'm sure they take a lot more time to clean up. I do make sure we do up any dirty dishes - in the bigger units I use the dishwasher and put away everything exactly the way it was when I checked in. I just wouldn't want to leave my dirty dishes for a maid to worry about.

Thanks littlestar I cant imagine we will get the Studio that dirty as we will only be there 2 nights. I want to try out DVC before I buy. I also want to plan how many points I need to buy. Studio for a week vs 1 bedroom for a week.

After a one bedroom, you won't want to go to a studio. It's just so hard.
