I have a woman who comes over for 4 hours one day a week and babysits and cleans the house (when the baby is sleeping - so sometimes it's not a complete cleaning if the baby is awake).

How much should I be charging her an hour?

Thanks for the input!

you're going to charge her to babysit and clean your house?

Someone to take care of the baby AND clean the house...

thats like one of those mastercard commercials.... priceless

Sorry I don't have a real answer for you.. I have 2 over-tired two year olds (irish twins) and my house is a wreck today. She sounds like an angel.

If you are talking about paying her, I would need more info like how big is your home and what does she get to clean in that time?

If I had someone watch the baby and clean bathrooms, vacuum, dust and wash the kitchen floor every week, I would be willing to pay about $80.

Okay, great to know. I was afraid I was way overpaying. Here is the deal:

She comes on Mondays for four hours. She is flexible on what she does. For example, if I had both of my kids home (2 month old and 5 year old) and wanted to step out, she would just watch them, play with my 5 year old, hold my 2 month old, etc.

If I want her to JUST clean the house I will sometimes take my 2 month old or stay in the bedroom and nurse her while she cleans the house, then maybe step out and pick up my 5 year old from school while she switches to just babysitter. I TRUST her with my children and that is BIG.

I pay her $20 an hour, so $80 for the 4 hours. It really adds up but for my sanity I need that time.

Also, keep in mind she never gets the entire house clean. Usually just a few rooms. The only way she could get it all done is if I took the kids out of the house for the 4 hours.

Close -- I am paying $20 an hour. When the baby is awake I tell her to focus on the baby (or my 5 year old if she is there) and not mind about the house. I pay her the same $20 regardless.

:rotfl:

You should be paying her $15 per hour.

OK, good. I was afraid you were paying her 8 or 10 bucks an hour, teenager rates. $20 is better than $15!!
