Can I get your opinions on the HOB? I have ate there twice, once on The West Side, and once in Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas. Our dinner at The West Side was great, and our dinner at Las Vegas was one of the worst we have ever had. The ribs at Vegas were very tough, and the corn bread was not fresh.

I am curious if I just hit one on an exceptionally good or bad night.

Which experience would you consider the norm????

THANX in advance......

When I went a few years ago at WDW the food was excellent and would go back.............I am fearin' that as in most places when you hit an off night............well you don't always get the best they have.

We love HOB, we ate there last in Dec. and loved it just like always. My wife and myself split the Jambalaya and an order of Rosemary Cornbread and found them as good as always. We have also had there meatloaf which we also found very good.

We had the meatloaf and cornbread. Everything hot and fresh. Very good!

We have eaten there many, many times. Both lunch and dinner. It is always excellent and the wait is usually not too bad. Ask for the main dining room as the annex room off to the left when you walk in is always noisy. It just doesn't feel like you are really in the restaurant when you get seated in there. Enjoy and have some cornbread for me.

The West Side HoB is one of our favorites.
Always good service, great food.

We're going to LV in August.....were thinking of trying HoB there....now I will have to think about it.

We were just at the DTD House of Blues last week and enjoyed everything we had. We tried the the Spinach/ artichoke dip appitizer which was great. The wife had the ribs and I tried Chicken over linquine with some kind of sauce.. Everything was delicious and the service was great!!!

Thanx for the replies. It sure looks like I just caught the one in Vegas on an off night.

One thing I may be dissapointed in- It looks like they changed the cornbread from jalapeño to rosemary?

Love HOB Westside and Myrtle Beach. The atmosphere is great..love those beer caps nailed everywhere. LOL!

Love, Love, Love the House of Blues. It's one of our favorite places to eat when we go to Disney. We have had the ribs, the Elwood, the Shrimp Po Boy, and always get the catfish nugget appetizers. I think the food is excellent and I agree with the others that you probably just caught them on a bad night.

We love the House of Blues on the West Side. It's one of our favorite restaurants at Disney. However, the House of Blues in the Mandalay Bay did not impress us. Food service and quality was very lacking.

All I can tell you is that I have eaten at the House of Blues on the West Side twice and loved it both times.

The first time my boyfriend had the Elwood and the Key Lime Pie and loved both. I had a bite of his Elwood and the bun was nice and dense, the chicken juicy and the sauce well balanced. I had the Pan Seared Voodoo shrimp and I think it was one of the best shrimp dishes I have had. It was one of those "stop me before I lick the plate" kind of experiences. I paired it with a ceasar salad but I would skip the salad next time... I think it ended up under the heat lamp.

The second time I went I had the Penne with mushrooms, chicken and smoked gouda. Very, very nice and such a large portion I got to enjoy it again the next day from the take out container! The sauce was lovely and thick. Pure comfort.

My girlfriend had the Etouffe and was kind enough to let me sample. The spicing was perfect... well, at least as far as this Northerner knows. She agreed and was pleased that they knew what to do with the file.

Even if you don't think you can eat it I highly recommend getting an order of the cornbread. I only ever had the rosemary, I never knew they once had a jalapeno, but I assure you the rosemary is not overpowering. Take it back to the resort with you and it makes the most amazing breakfast you could want. Make sure you ask them to give you some of the maple butter to go with it.

I live near New Orleans and go to HoB there every now and then. It stands out as one of the best casual restaurants in the city where good eats are plentiful. I especially like the BBQ sandwich and also curry chicken thing.
