All I can tell you is that I have eaten at the House of Blues on the West Side twice and loved it both times.
The first time my boyfriend had the Elwood and the Key Lime Pie and loved both. I had a bite of his Elwood and the bun was nice and dense, the chicken juicy and the sauce well balanced. I had the Pan Seared Voodoo shrimp and I think it was one of the best shrimp dishes I have had. It was one of those "stop me before I lick the plate" kind of experiences. I paired it with a ceasar salad but I would skip the salad next time... I think it ended up under the heat lamp.
The second time I went I had the Penne with mushrooms, chicken and smoked gouda. Very, very nice and such a large portion I got to enjoy it again the next day from the take out container! The sauce was lovely and thick. Pure comfort.
My girlfriend had the Etouffe and was kind enough to let me sample. The spicing was perfect... well, at least as far as this Northerner knows. She agreed and was pleased that they knew what to do with the file.
Even if you don't think you can eat it I highly recommend getting an order of the cornbread. I only ever had the rosemary, I never knew they once had a jalapeno, but I assure you the rosemary is not overpowering. Take it back to the resort with you and it makes the most amazing breakfast you could want. Make sure you ask them to give you some of the maple butter to go with it.
