Has anyone ever taken a child with them to see a concert at the House of Blues in Downtown Disney? I am taking my DD, 7 yrs. old, in June, and would love to see Los Lobos at the HOB on the 10th. From what I understand, this is an acoustic folk/traditional music tour, so the music should be inoffensive for a child that age. This is our first WDW trip and first solo vacation, so I hate to leave her behind at the resort with a babysitter while I go to the concert - and I'm not crazy about the idea of going alone to a concert either (but I'll do it if I have to, I love those guys!). The question is, do other people bring their kids to shows there, or am I going to get angry glares from adults looking for a kids-free evening? I appreciate any advice, I'm clueless about all things Disney! Thanks! :goodvibes

"Bump" means that the OP is trying to get her post back up to the top of the front page in order to get a response.

As far as taking a 7 year-old to House of Blues. Well, I've never been to HOB so can't comment much except to say that Pleasure Island pretty much empties out of kids as it gets later in the evening. Personally, I don't think a busy bar with a popular live band is a great place to take a child. The music probably won't be offensive, but your daughter could possibly be exposed to foul language, adult clothing (or lack thereof), etc. I also understand that HOB has very little seating, which would likely be a problem late at night with a child.

I did go to an early show at the Comedy Club at PI where there were older kids (say 11, 12) present. The show was kept family-friendly and the kids seemed to enjoy it as well as the adults.

IMHO, I'd go for a sitter or pick an activity that is more family-oriented. I would love to go out dancing while we're on our upcoming trip, but DH doesn't trust our kids with a sitting service so said "Nope!" So, I know exactly what a bummer it can be to have to change your plans because you've got kids. Not that they aren't worth it, because they totally are!

We were going to take DS's age 12(almost 13) to a concert there in Feb. We were in WDW with friends who have been to many concerts there. Our friend warned us that it is a bar atmosphere and that if we didn't get there early (he was also going to bring his 13 yr old DD) that we wouldn't get a spot along the counter (bar type stools) that it is set up around a "pit" before the stage. He said that everyone stands in the pit for the concerts, and that our kids would not be able to see anything with people in front of them. We had thought it had seating, but apparantly it does not. Turned out the concert was sold out, so we didn't go. Also FYI House of Blues is not on Pleasure Island, it is across from Disney Quest.
