House hunting in Colorado

My husband and I are looking to buy a home in Breckenridge, Co. Does anybody live in that area? We are also interested in the Frisco area as well. Are there any questions we should ask? This has been a life long dream of ours and it is finally coming true.

My parents bought a home in Frisco about 15 yrs ago. We don't get there often enough but I love Summit county! The beetles did a number on the trees around Lake Dillon over the past few years. Hopefully that's contained. I know Frisco has grown a lot over the years. I like Frisco better than all of the action in Breckenridge. You're still close to everything and 70. Breckenridge and Frisco are beautiful. We were just up there last weekend. The beetle kill situation is horrific. What used to be gorgeous green mountainsides are now dead reddish-brown mountainsides. We were just astonished driving to and from Breck from Denver and seeing massive numbers of dead trees. It's so sad. There's no containment in that situation, sadly. Looks like the only thing that will stop it is when the beetles run out of food and all the trees are dead :-(

Gosh, that is horrible about the beetles! We are flying in to Denver as well so I guess we will get an eye full ourselves.

a good fire will kill the beetles and let the trees regrow. Please keep in mind when buying a house in the Colorado high country that beetle kill increases the risk and damage of a fire and play accordingly. As of this morning 170 homes have burned in the Fourmile canyon fire west of Boulder. Many of those are in beetle kill areas.
Property taxes in Summit County are High-brace for that.
