House Alarm

This.

We built our house nearly to two years ago and we had the option of a cell phone, but were also counseled against it. So, for the first time in a decade, we got a land line. DH and I find it's worth the extra expense for the peace of mind of knowing we're covered either way. So, I'd say go with what you feel the most comfortable with.

This.
It’s worth paying extra for landline for peace of mind. In my area its usual practice that cell phone network gets down. It happens with all the companies. So we prefer landline.

My alarm company came out last year with the option to have the alarm on your cell phone instead of through a land line. Initially they came out and installed something on the main alarm box that allowed it to run through the cell instead. That cost $250 nut in the long run it was worth it versus the expense of the land line.

I agree with the PP, call your alarm company and see what they say. My company sent out a letter to their customers letting us know it was an option, otherwise I wouldn't have thought it was an option!

Talk about timing.:rotfl: I just had my security system changed over to this yesterday.:rotfl: It cost me $243.56 to upgrade to the Digital Cellular system, plus instead of paying $18.50 a month for the monitoring I'll now be paying $38.25 a month (still cheaper than the $32.00 land line + the $18.50/month monitoring fee I did have). Plus if I pay in January for the entire year, they give me one month free monitoring. We've used Glentech Security for the last six or seven years and have been happy with them.

I got tickled when the guy came out yesterday to upgrade our system though. When he first rang the doorbell, I told him to wait while I put my dog in the crate. My dog's crate is in the living room, just before the entry way and right across from the security system's control panel. Every time he walked out to the van to get something or was messing with the security control panel, my dog would try to get him. Normally my akita is pretty well trained, but for some reason took a dislike to this guy and nothing we said could make him quit growling at him. He'd quit barking, sit and even lie down when we told him to, but wouldn't quit a low growling. The security guy asked why we needed a security system when I had a 95 lb attack dog that would eat up a burglar before he could even get into the house to set the alarm off.lol
