Hours getting shorter, but crowds getting larger?

I feel like over the years, Disney has seen larger crowds, but they are shortening the hours.

For example, I went in 2014 in September (a historically low crowd season) and they still had parks open till 10 or 11.

This past September when I went, Magic Kingdom closed at 9 almost every night.

I’m going in May (not really a slow time) and all the parks are closing at 9 every night, except for the one EMH night.

I wonder why this is. It also makes you feel like you’re not getting your money’s worth. They raise prices, but shorten hours. Once upon a time, Magic Kingdom would stay open till 11, and that was without EMH.

It’s a bummer.

Yep. We always go around holidays when the hours are extended, but now it seems like they aren't even extending them for President's Day? huh???

They have been backing off hours overall lately when crowds are slow, but the biggest reason currently is to offset the closures of the 2 chinese parks they r trying to make up some of thst revenue any way they can

I guess Disney has done all the math to come to the conclusion that cutting down on park hours (and therefore employee wages) saves them some money. But I have to wonder, wouldn’t guests being in the parks those extra hours spending money on food and in the shops, etc offset this? The more crowded the parks become, the less fun it is, and I am being pushed further and further to the point of it just not being worth it any more.
