Hotwire Is A Rip-off!!!

I really hate to be so negative but...

I joined Hotwire savings club for the vouchers and gift cards. What they failed to tell me or mention on their website is that they do not offer the savings club to Hawaii Residents.

They took my credit card info...and I tried to order the vouchers but told me that they cannot service Hawaii. They charged me $7.95 for my monthly fee...even though I can't use their club!!!!

So I tried to cancel...got the runaround...guy ended up hanging up on me!! I tried calling back right away and there was a message saying that their offices were closed (only 10 seconds after he hung up on me!!!)

I don't think the savings on the vouchers and g/c's are worth this aggravation!!!

just my humble, although very upset, opinion!

There have been lots of complaints about rude customer service from Hotwire. I had poor (but not rude) service from them myself. Just try again today-

Wow, they won't sell to you because you live in Hawaii and they argued about refunded your membership fee????

Sorry it did not work for you. They should stop you from signing up if they will not service Hawaii.

Works smooth as glass for me. I have purchased about 15 vouchers and received $100 in gift card rebates and my cost has been $2.05. Orders come in 3-4 days. I will probably make 1 more big order for Christmas and cancel on Sept. 3.

I don't understand. They have a 30 day free trial period. If you are still within your free trial period, you should not have been charged anything yet.

File a complaint with your credit card company - let Hotwire employees explain to your credit card company why they charged you for a service they will not provide!

Amen to filing a complaint with the CC company! It's the best way to get a dispute resolved when the company refuses to deal with you. I'm really sorry about your experience...we have had good luck with Hotwire, but we live in Illinois and have never had to call them for any reason.

And as a side note, glad to see so many other Hawaii people on the boards these days! While it's nice to live in Hawaii, it's kind of sad how we are sometimes treated like we are a foreign country or something! Don't really understand it in most cases...

don't understand the charge since it was a free first month...i ordered 3 batches and canceled with no problem, no charge . my daughter had the same experience but they didn't cancel hers like they were supposed to. she didn't bother to check her statement for 6 months( oy vey ) and they took 3 months of charges off..not bad imo since uhhummm she should have CHECKED the first month!

i wonder if they send some things to hawaii but not disney vouchers?

How did you even register from Hawaii. When I go to the website it doesn't show HI. I tried calling them and they tole me I couldn't use their program.

When I cancelled I didn't even speak with anyone. I just had to push a few buttons and the automated system gave me a cancellation number.

Just remember NOT to cancel in the first month if you ordered gift cards. They will not credit you if you aren't a member when the first of the month comes around and you aren't a member. It happened to me and there is no recourse.

It's not the date of the month , it's when you join. You have 30 days before you have to pay. If you are not a member when they decide to pay out the 20% for gift cards they cannot credit you with the money. I had 26 gift cards, $130.00 that was supposed to be credited to me. I cancelled at the 30 day mark,so they didn't pay. Had I known, or had the person I talked to before I canceled had told me ,I would have joined for 1 extra month for $9.95 and had the money credited to me. It's my own fault for not reading the fine print. They gave me false information when I called and asked what would happen if I cancelled.
