Hotwire Car Rental - OK?

Hi,

We are going to Arizona for 8 days in April to visit family - and we will get to the Grand Canyon for a night!

I am set with hotels (mostly) but I am floored by the price of car rentals. I just checked Hotwire and they have a great rate (for Phoenix) of under $300 for the week for a full-size, including all fees. (We normally get something smaller but we may be traveling around with my birthmom during the Tucson leg of our trip so I want something that will comfortably seat 5).

I've never used Hotwire before. It says that they guarantee the booking is with a major agency such as National, Alamo, or Hertz. I would just be grateful if anyone could tell me if you have had problems through Hotwire before?

I use both Hotwire and Priceline when booking rental cars all of the time. Never had a problem! Enjoy your trip!

We just used them for our trip to Orlando, and this was the second time I've done so. No problems at all. My only complaint is that I booked too early, and was stuck with the higher rate since you can't cancel! Prices continued to come down closer to my dates. I would book something you can live with that you can cancel, and then continue to check rates. Mine swung as much as $60 for the week!

I have used them and they are good. My only caution would be if you think you trip might change be careful. Usually they take the money up front and it is non refundable.

We've used them before and not had a problem. Always have gotten a major rental company. I'll echo a PP and say make sure your dates are set in stone - once you've booked and paid you cannot change the details.
