Hotter here than at Disney?

Yeah we went to Disney from nc a few weeks back and the temps didn't change. The big difference was the afternoon storms. They were much needed but make it hard to tour with a toddler! When it was just me and dh we would still do stuff in the rain sometimes, but you feel like a bad parent having a toddler out in a thunderstorm :scared1:

Ok, so, somehow it has been hotter here, in NC for basically all of July than it has been in Orlando. (I watch the temps regularly on my iphone) We're talking about 5 or so degrees! Add to that the constant levels of humidity lately, and I'm starting to think I made the right decision to make a summer trip to WDW! Maybe we'll escape a little bit of the heat! Who knew?

I feel ya, we are in Tennessee and last week was so hot and humid. Wish I had a Dole Whip or Mickey Ice Cream to snack on.:thumbsup2

It can stay as hot as it wants as long as it doesn't rain for Jimmy Buffett tomorrow or camping this weekend.

Yeah, but Orlando always seems to be Hot AND Humid. The only place I have lived that was worse for Hot AND Humid was Tampa. :scared1:

We had low humidity last weekend with the highs in the low/mid 90s. We turned off the AC Thursday night and did not run it again until today because of the humidity. Looks like the AC is going to be running for the next week or so. :sad2:

The other thing that makes Disney hotter is that you have so many people crammed into a very little area made up of concrete. The people add to the heat and humidity. At least at EPCOT you can get a breeze but at MK it can be like a sauna.

I live in a rural area but work in the "city." I commonly see a 5-10 degree temperature difference at my house vs work. If the temperature is very hot or very cold there will be a good 10 degree difference in the urban heat island. MK has always been a very hot and humid heat island to me maybe because I spent so many summers days there. :confused3:rotfl:

it has hit 100 for about 20 days in a row, and i haven't seen rain in months!! i really hate south texas summers, i can't wait till the winter time!!

yes, the humidity in orlando is what sets it apart for me....
you walk around with that thick sheen of sweat all the time....lovely...

i live where it's hot and humid in the summer (where boiling water comes out of the cold water faucet  )...but even on the most humid day, we don't hold a candle to the unpleasantness that is orlando humidity....

While it's 100 degrees where you live.....are you walking the streets 12 hours a day or are you staying inside with the AC on?

Also....Orlando can have 90 plus degrees April through October.

Not complaining.

It's always better than snow!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

When I lived in South Florida, I had a parking space right next to my rental I was living in. All I had to do in the morning was walk down the stairs, walk 15 steps to the second parking space, get in the car and go. MANY mornings it was so humid by the time I got to the parking space I felt like I needed to go back upstairs and take a shower. :scared1::rotfl2:

At least we got a sea breeze most days. :lmao:

Today is supposed to be 97 along with the next couple of days. The weekend will be 100. With HUMIDITY.

We will not be getting a sea breeze. :rotfl2:

I remember walking down to get the mail which was about a quarter mile wearing just flip-flops and shorts and looking like I just finished a marathon when I was living in Clearwater.

We get pretty humid here in the summer because of Lake Erie. We hit 91 degrees and 94% humidity yesterday.

No truer words. As much as I hate humidity it beats snow any day.

I will say, just ONCE I'd like to go to WDW when it's cool. Upper 60's, low 70's. I've been in late November, mid-December and the first week of Feburary and it was 85-90 each time.

Right now in So. Wisconsin
Temp. = 97
Dew Pt = 72
Heat index = 106

Right now in WDW
Temp. = 90
Dew Pt = 66
Heat index = 93

Heat index difference = 13 degrees.

The last time we had 3 or more days in the 90s was 2009.

I believe that Illinois rivals Florida for the hot & humid summers, although like Kevin said not as long as Apr-Oct.

Right now, 11:23 at night, 85 degrees 82% humidity. 98 degrees Heat Index, it's 11:30 at night!! :scared1::scared1: We never have low humidity in the summer.

i'll park my car on the other side of a lot, just to be in the shade :goodvibes

another thing 'entertaining' about disney - those never-ending shadeless cement parking lots....you get in your car and think you're going to spontaneously combust on the spot....

Today in good old Cincinnati were under an Excessive Heat Warning with a high today of 96 Degrees, Humidity at 89%, and a Heat index of 110 Degrees!!

Some one PLEASE send me back to WDW...it may be hot there, but at least I'd be having fun!:lmao:

I wonder if we're in the same place? I'm in Champaign.

I don't care how much "cooler" it might be in Orlando than elsewhere in the US; I'm STILL not interested in going to WDW in the summer! I'm not a fan of Midwest winters, either. Is there anywhere in the US where it's 75 degrees year 'round?

Nancy, you should try San Diego by the ocean, it's just about 75 all year.

Right now it's 100 degrees!! That's the first time in 16 years we've hit 100.

Thanks - I remember hearing that about San Diego.

I hope you have a good air conditioner!

Same.Here. (up in the good old Buckeye Capital!!) :goodvibes :faint:

We're going to the world in September. Maybe I should spend some time outside today to see what I'm in for in a couple months....:confused3
