Anyone have this type of baby carrier. As mentioned before, I am not a baby wearing person but I thought I might try with this one. I think I may like the look of it better than the ring slings(or whatever they are called:)). If you do have this type or had it, what did you think of it. TIA

I have one. Used it almost exclusively with DD. Compact & easy to use, especially with a younger one. More difficult to use now, although I have used it with her at 15+ months, but it doesn't have to give to make it comfy on both of us. But, I coudl get a larger size now & have it work well. With DS, used a ring sling, and it worked well too, jsut not as compact.

This is the carrier we used for our DD almost exclusively until 4 months. It was GREAT!

The one thing you'll want to do is find a brick and morter store that sells them to make sure you are getting a good fit. We had one with my son we never used because the fit was so poor.. when dd came around, we got a great fitting sling and it was great!

it's light weight. It can go anywhere.

The only thing.. when you wash it, do not dry it. This will cause the sling to shrink. :)

Thanks for the replies. I have looked on their website and tried to do the fitting by the way they say but I have a small frame. Now I am 115 lbs but I was 112 lbs before I got pregnant. I am about 5'4" and when I measure from my shoulder down it reads about a 21. On their site that would be a size 1 but that seems so small to me. But then again I am small myself. I will see if I can find any in the stores to try. Do you think I should wait until the baby is born and try one on or is before hand ok? TIA

I had one and loved it. I'd wait until after the baby comes to try one on. Your body shape can change pre-and post-baby, so you will get a more accurate fit.

I have one! LOVE IT!!! I used it a lot when my third was little - its the only way I could get things done when she was tiny. She was 6 weeks early. I don't like the ring slings - too much fabric and too bulky. There are so many ways to use the hotsling. I'll be using it again for the newest one.

I have a hotsling- and use it still with my 9 month old. We used it on our last trip to WDW when she was only 9 weeks old. It was fine.
If you have not used a sling before- this type, pouch sling, can be easier since you don't have a million adjustments to make like with a ring sling.
I wore all 3 of my daughters... so I do have some tips!
Definitely find a store in your area that will help you with fit and finding a good sling to fit your body. Hotslings may not end up being the best for you. Remember to bring your new baby and have someone show you how to adjust the sling and put your baby into it while you are holding her/him. I know in my area there are at least 2 stores that sell slings and other carriers and will help you find a good fit. I am sure you can find a good store near you.

Buy a light weight fabric sling in a light color. Babies can get hot in there in the FL sun.

You will probably want at least 2 slings or 1 sling and another carrier for your trip. I found that switching mine out 1/2 way through the day put less strain on just one part of my back. It's also good to have a spare since babies spit up and have leaks quite often!

Check out YouTube for videos of various slings and carriers in action. You'll be able to see how others use them and what looks like it would be easiest for you.

Good luck!

You can buy one now if you want. Depending on where, they may have an exchange policy incase things fit weird after pregnancy. But if you go somewhere that will fit you, they will show you how to wear it. Mine has a dummy baby that they use for an example. Which is easier than a regular stuffed animal.. but if you have a cabbage patch doll, it would work as well.

Also, thebabywearer.com has a great source of information as well as videos :)

Thanks for all the replies. I am going to try to find a retailer in my area so I can see them in person. Thanks again.
