We want to stay at AoA in a suite but its so expensive And to save on food a bit, we were going to bring with us a one burner Hotplate. Is this allowed? Are you allowed to fly with these things in your checked luggage?

The AOA suite has a kitchenette, so I don't know if it's the same as a regular resort room as far as bringing your own appliances. But if you're looking to heat things you will have a microwave in the suite.
You might want to consider the FW Cabins. They have full kitchens, with a dishwasher , plus a grill outdoors. You can use a service like gardengrocer.com to deliver groceries.
