Hotels within Walking Distance to Gate--Any Surprise Finds?

We've stayed in a few Harbor Blvd motels, and I think Candy Cane Inn on Katella is about the same distance to pedestrian entrance as HoJo.
Are there any "secret" entrances/walk-throughs that make other hotels just as close **walking distance** as Harbor Blvd hotels (our cutoff on "close" is between HoJo and Katella), maybe on Walnut/Disneyland Dr/Ball that cut through say Downtown Disney to the entrance gates?
We have 2 little ones and prefer walking distance to hotels.
Thank you!

Booked Best Western Stovalls Inn for $88 AAA rate Wed June 24-Sun June 28 2009.
Best deal I can find on short notice.
In house res clerk states 10-15 minutes walk up Disneyland Drive.
Anyone here actually walked it?
It takes us 10-15 to walk from HoJo (depending on the traffic light)
So if it's really that close I think I found a great alternative to Harbor!

The walk from Stovall's is a few minutes longer than the walk from HoJo's. It took me about 15 minutes from my room at Stovall's to the ticket booths at the Park, but I walk fast.

Thank you, spacemermaid! Just the info I'm looking for! I appreciate the confirmation of a full 15 min walk! :)

aliceindisneyland-I would love to know what you personally think of the walk if you stay at BW Stovalls. We have looked at staying in that area as well, but aren't sure of the walk for our kids.
Thanks!

No problem :)

I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay at Stovall's; I've stayed there many times & have no complaints. The topiary garden there is really cute! And the AAA rate can't be beat, that's how I booked my summer trip this year too! Have fun on your trip!

If we go wk of June 24 we'll definitely be staying there & I'll post a trip report including walk/hotel info. It does seem a bit far, but we've done the HoJo walk carrying our little ones at the end of the day and I still prefer that to waiting for the tram/finding our car/strapping the kids in/driving back to the hotel....
The price quote for our dates at BW Stovalls was about $30 cheaper than the quotes from BW Park Place & BW Anaheim Inn--definitely money worth saving for a few extra minutes' walk imo. [only narrowing by Best Westerns this trip as we have BW gcs]

We currently have reservations at a hotel on Harbor and another near the BW Stovalls and keep trying to decide if the extra money is worth the walk. I look forward to your trip report! Thanks!!

ack--sorry fronkfam--DH says No Way to the extra walk from Stovall's. I did find a rate 2 days ago for only $10 more ($98) at the BW Anaheim Inn--directly across from ped entrance. The in house reservations showed full, but through bestwestern.com (not the anaheim inn site) I was able to book all days needed (wkend rate is $107). For $10 extra I really can't argue w/DH--we may have ended up spending that on the shuttle if the walk was too far!
Sorry can't be of help w/Stovall's--I would trust spacemermaid's advice on the 15 minutes!

I just looked on the map, and stovalls is over in the Anabella area. Relatively easy walk!

Go to the crosswalk at Katella and Disneyland drive. Cross Katella. Walk up Disneyland Drive. Pass PPH. Once you hit PPH, you're doing the walk you would do if you were staying onsite.

Hint: the walk along Disneyland drive has, as part of it, a HUGE "hidden Mickey" (look at the satellite view of google maps), so that's fun.

Go into GCH, come out into DTD, get to the esplanade.

Seriously not a horrible walk at all, quite pretty, actually, though crossing Katella is hairy (if kids are stroller age, have them IN the stroller).

The only entrance to Disneyland is through the esplanade. You can get to the esplanade by Harbor or through DTD. The entrances to DCA are either from GCH or from the esplanade.

There are no other entrances.

Yes! The Giant Hidden Mickey! If you haven't seen it yet, go here: http://www.bing.com/maps/ and type in the address to Stovall's (1110 W. Katella Ave, Anaheim, CA 92802). Then look up towards the Disney property...you'll see it there. Pretty cool!

No worries. Your opinion would have given us one more thing to consider in our decision, but we have lots of information to go on already. Enjoy the Anaheim Inn!:)
