After much reflection, I've realized that part of our "unhappiest place on earth" experiences at DL were based on me expecting too much from DD... She's got ADHD, and is especially sensitive to changes in routine. Add to that the facts that we were there for 8 days, we were 1-on-1 the WHOLE time (no breaks from each other, or from DLR), and we followed absolutely no sleep schedule (including a 2am exit on Day-After-Leap-Day).... well, yeah. I basically (accidentally) set her up for certain failure in all my DLR excitement.
In an effort to not have a repeat of the meltdowns we had last go-round, I'm making better plans this year for everything... Well, everything I can plan for--things like food, where we stay, staying on a schedule, etc.
To that end, my first planning issue is sleeping arrangements. We stayed at the Super 8 last time, mainly because we have a good corporate discount for Wyndham properties, and it was cheap. The walk from Harbor/Katella didn't phase us in the least. I couldn't see why someone would pay more for 5 minutes less of walking. But, now that I see how much my bedtime affected DD's sleep time, I've realized we need a somewhat separate living area vs sleeping area, so I can chill with the TV and computer after she's in bed and trying to sleep. Sleeping in the same room with DD is fine, it's just making sure I have somewhere to go while she's getting to sleep, before my bed time.
So, all this is a really long way of asking one simple question:
What hotels in the DLR area have rooms with a separate living area vs sleep area? Ideally, within about 15 minutes walking distance.
