Hotels that sleep 5

I am planning a short trip at either easter or summer, but I think we will have to stay off site as there is 5 of us. I have never looked into offsite hotels before so I am just looking for any ideas of which ones are decent. We won't have a car so will need a hotel that offers a shuttle bus.
I would love to stay at the disneyland hotel but my finances won't stretch that far so think it will need to be off site

Both the Disneyland Hotel and the Newport Bay have family rooms with a daybed which will sleep a family of 5. Offsite, you have the choice of the Explorers, the Marriott, Adagio and L'Elysee. There's also Davy Crockett Ranch but you'll need a car if you stay there.

The Explorers is the closest and takes less than 10 minutes by free shuttle. We've stayed there a few times and have always been happy to return.

The Marriott is a bit farther afield. There is a free shuttle although it's not so frequent as the Explorers one, alternatively you can catch the local bus in for a couple of euros each.

The Adagio and Hotel L'Elysee are both in Val d'Europe and have a free shuttle bus or you can catch the train in (one stop) for a couple of euros each.

If you do decide to stay offsite, as a rule of thumb it's cheaper to not book with Disney although do price it up with them just in case. Most people find it's cheaper to book separately then buy either park tickets or annual passes. Have a look at the Hotel FAQ where you'll also find booking links to book the offsites through.

We stayed at the NPB this time and got interconnecting rooms, it was great. Last June we stayed at the explorers. The kids loved it. It is a fab hotel for kids, and it has a shuttle bus. Hope this helps

As a big fan of the Marriott, I would like to recommend them but as you do not have a car you would have to either use their shuttle (€2.00 per person each way) or the number 34 bus.

There are 5 of us and we have Dream AP's so we always stay offsite (however we always have our car).

The Marriott gives you a two or three bedroom house with plenty of room for eating together and then putting the children to bed at night.

We got interconnecting rooms at the Santa Fe - it was fine and having two bathrooms was a bonus. We all stayed in the DLH (youngest DD was a baby) and I found it hard to have all 5 of us in one room. I'd think about The Explorers too but compare the price of 2 rooms onsite.

We had interconnecting rooms at the Cheyenne just before Christmas (for 7 of us) but two rooms is more expensive obviously. We usually stay offsite in the summer and last year had a “villa”, a sort of terraced townhouse style house at Park Suite Village near Val d’Europe which we booked through hotels.com. It was very spacious with a good sized kitchen/living/sitting area on the ground floor and open front and back terrace and gardens, two good sized double bedrooms, WC and separate bathroom on first floor and a very large bedroom, ensuite bathroom with WC and large balcony on the second floor. As Juliette says, two bathrooms is always a bonus.This was a few minutes’ drive away from Disneyland for us but we told there is a bus stop nearby too although I would have thought it would be a fair walk, though not impossible, to the train station. There are other nearby self-catering (or not) apartments too on the site some of which accommodate larger numbers per room.
