I am planning on staying one night at the Loews Royal Pacific and would like to find a hotel very close to switch to on our second night. I got a room for $273 the first night but the cost jumped to $369 the second night. I would prefer to find a close hotel and save some money unless you think it would not be worth the hassle of moving hotels if there is not one that is convenient. At this point we do not have a rental car so I would have to find transportation between the two hotels. Any advise?

you have plans to spend one night on site.
how many nights total do you plan to stay in the UO area?

if it is only 2 total, i would just stay onsite rather than go thru the process of moving offsite.

moving off site would break up that second park day by checking out of rph, moving by taxi to an offsite hotel, waiting to check into the second hotel, then going back to the parks.

when i am on vacation, i always go for the convenience over costs.

Check out the hotels on Major Blvd. There are many.

I wouldn't move either, if it is just for one night.

double tree on major blvd. was kinda nice. nothing as nice as universal resorts though. we stayed there on arrival night.. we were maybe going to walk over to city walk that night. it just seemed like to much of a bother.. we were tired from the flight, we lied by the pool a bit, then walked over to TGIF across the street. they had great deals.

Be sure to keep on checking to see if that price comes down. This site shows all 3 hotels at once.

If you do end up moving, as a split stay "expert" (well, not an expert as I haven't perfected it, but I do have experience in it!), I would recommend just putting your bags with RP's Bell Services for the day, and only when your day is done should you go back to the hotel, get your bags, and call a taxi to take you to the second hotel. Interrupting your day isn't necessary, since they'll keep your bags for you all day.

And remember, you'll have all that day to experience the resort's amenities even though you're checked out. So you can still swim, etc, if you want to take a break.

I agree with checking out early in the morning and having your luggage held for the day. Come back and get it and move to checkin elsewhere when you are finished in the parks for the day. That should be no problem and minimum disruption for you. I stayed at Four Points by Sheraton and walked back and forth each time. It is just under a mile and the walk is almost all along Universal Blvd. which is has a nice safe-feeling sideway and crosswalks all the way to the walkway bridge from the Universal parking lots. At that point, you are about equidistance from the parks as from RPR. I would suggest a cab when you move with your luggage after a day in the parks though.

Thanks for all of the replies. We are only planning on staying two night at Universal. We are going to Disneyworld before. I just think $350+ is a lot for a hotel room when we can just stay 1 night and get the same accommodations for the tickets. But I don't want it to be a big hassle to change hotels. I will look into the Doubletree and Sheraton as an option.

both of those are decent hotels.
you can walk from them to the parks as well.
