Hotels near Disneyland that allow dogs?

A friend is going to Disneyland and would like to take their dog on vacation with them. They plan on putting him in the Disneyland kennel during the day. What are their hotel options? Do they have to stay within walking distance or are dogs allowed on the trams/buses/ART?

Only service dogs are allowed on the ART system.

But there are plenty of accommodations within walking distance.

Motel 6 on Disney Way is well known as a pet friendly chain, and doesn't charge extra for them.

But as noted, they want them to be in the room only if supervised by a guests, so the plan to use the park's kennel is a very good one.

Staybridge on Manchester where I'm staying is pet-friendly and that factored into my decision.. If you're looking for a "at home" feel where you can have your pet, this one works out perfectly. fee is $150 per pet.

Residence Inn Maingate is a goto for us. The Majestic is also pet friendly.

The la Quinta is about a mile walk but they take pets as well.
