Hotels near Arches NP & Mesa Verde NP

Can anyone recommend hotels (or restaurants -- let's throw that in too!) near either of these two national parks? The towns nearby would be Moab, Utah and Cortez, Colorado.

We've looked online, and it appears that these towns each have several moderate-hotels (Holiday Inn Express, Best Western), which are fine with us. None seem to stand out among the others as being nicer or more conveniently located.

We're a family with two daugthers, ages 12 and 15. Anything in these towns that the kids might enjoy?

We are HI Express people, so that would be my first choice. Not sure how the one in Cortez is, check www.coloradoholiday.com . Also when we drove through last time, the Best Western looked nice. www.bestwesternmesaverde.com

If you are visiting when FarView Lodge inside the park is open, you may want to stay there. Not luxury, but nice. They have a nice restaurant the Metate Room.

Restaurants in Cortez are also not plentiful. Check on the Chamber website www.cortezchamber.com/Visitor_Info.html

Moab has more lodging options. We stayed at the Redstone Inn, nice small property. Rooms are kind of small, but have a mini kitchen area. www.moabredstone.com . Also check on www.discovermoab.com
