Hotels - location

It definitely decreases if you stay further away, so it's relative to your comfort to walk a little. To be fair the ones with the farthest walks away can still be reasonable by most standards at a 20-25 minute walk. For ones we've stayed at that were further away included the Hyatt, Crowne Plaza, and Hilton Garden Inn. The fairfield by Marriott which is just across the street is among the most convenient of larger chains.

Most recently we've resorted to staying at Hotel Menage it's an independent chain that's a short walk over the interstate. The only downside in our eyes is that there's no membership/loyalty program, and we have some basic level of status on others. Despite that we usually prefer here as it's very affordable and quite convenient. I'd say in terms of quality it's definitely inline with a Fairfield by Marriott. The walk in the evenings can get slightly chilly, but it's not to bad as it's only 15 minutes from your room to the park entrance.

We just ended our stay at the Hilton this morning. The parking rate was only $5.00 each day with in and out privileges. The walk to Disney is 8/10ths of a mile so 12 minutes is doable but that is a very brisk pace. Plan on at least 20 minutes to get to the entry on South Harbor, you then have the walk down the bus plaza and through security so hotel to either park gate is in the 30 to 35 minute range. The hotel is very nice but they do charge $12.95 per day for the internet.

Was that part of a promotional rate? They still showing $16 self park and $22 valet.

We love Candy Cane Inn- short walk, free breakfast, free shuttle if needed/wanted. Motel style, but made to look very nice. Flowers and vines on the building, cobble stone parking lot.

ive stayed at the candy cane inn the last two times and it's been fantastic.

this time (oct) we're staying at the super 8 on w katella - longer walk, but cheaper. will update after the trip to say how it went because i havent found much about it on the forums.
