We've decided to go to Williamsburg for Spring Break this year since my older DD is studying about it and the Federal Period - we also try to go to "historical places" during that break - we've gone to DC, Philli, Baltimore in the past few years.

I haven't been in about 18 years so I'm in the dark as to where to stay. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

We loved the Kingsmill resort, although I'm not sure how "budget" it is... we haven't been in maybe 4 years. They had packages that included Williamsburg, Busch Gardens and touring the Anhueser Busch (sp?) factory there. They are right next door to Busch Gardens and provide free transport to and from. Also have on site restaurants, golf, indoor pool, outdoor pool and more. It was gorgeous.

Anything along Richmond Rd or Bypass road will be a good choice. That is the main touristy road and has tons of restaurants, shopping and hotels.

There is also a Great Wolf Lodge if your budget can afford it and that is a lot of fun. And of course the hotels that are connected with Williamsburg offer special packages that include tickets.

Another vote for Kingsmill Resort. We stayed there several years ago and loved it. It's not cheap, but it is very nice!

This hotel is a blast--plenty of things to do for all ages, and close to everything in Williamsburg. I highly recommend it.

You could always rent a timeshare. Wyndham has 3 resorts in there and you could probably find someone to rent you one in the $70/night range. Greensprings plantation is also a very nice resort.
