Does anyone have any suggestions on a clean, inexpensive place to stay in Tallahassee? We need to stay there in-route to WDW for one night and would like to find something that is on the main route, clean, and less that $60/night.

I'm not sure what the rates are, but Tally has a Days Inn on Capital Circle, A red Roof Inn on North Monroe, Holiday Inn on Tennesee St, and one on Apalachee Parkway. I'm sure there are a few more, but I can't think at the moment. I live about an hour from Tallahassee. If you need me to check any of the rates, just LMK. I'd be happy to call and post the rates.

I drove out to New Orleans about a month ago and stopped in Tally for the night. I stayed at the Microtel on N. Monroe. It is not fancy, but it was cheap and clean and the staff was great. The motel is very basic, but it was fine for just sleeping.

AK Disney fan:

From your inquiry I presume you mean you want to stay close to the interstate. I lived in Tally for awhile, and my family and I have gone back to visit several times, so we have some experience with the hotels in the area.

Generally, unless you're staying at the Governor's Club downtown, you can usually find a deal on any hotel room in town if you look on the right websites (Expedia, etc.). The two hotels I'm about to mention might not be available for $60, but it won't be much more than that.

If you want a suite with a bedroom type of thing, theres a Marriott Residence Inn just off I-10, but it's older and has a weird set-up. (You check in, then go through a number of sets of double doors to get to the rooms in the back -- kind of a long walk). The rooms were a bit dated and dingy, and the beds were way past their prime.

If you can get away with a regular hotel room, there's a fairly new, clean Hilton Garden Inn, also just off I-10, I think it's at the Thomasville Road Exit. I recall that place was very comfortable; they've got an excellent breakfast buffet (don't think it's free, though), and even a cozy little bar if you want a cocktail after you check in.

Good luck. (I hate that I-10 drive -- absolutely nothing to see from Pensacola to Jacksonville)

Thanks for the info. Yes, we are taking the I-10 route and we are looking for a cheap, clean place to sleep on the way down. I am usually leary of Days Inn, Microtel, Motel 6, Super 8 types in areas I am unfamiliar with. If someone has stayed there and can recommend it I will feel a lot better about trying the cheaper way. It's just a place to sleep and bathe. I want to save the big bucks for DW....::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Four years ago we stayed at a Howard Johnsons in Midway, a little west of Tallahassee. It was brand new then and a nice place for a cheap price! Also had continental breakfast!
We are going to Disney at the end of May, driving from Texas, and we are planning on staying there again, unless someone tells me otherwise!
Howard Johnson's Express Inn I-10 and exit 192

We are leaving Arkansas on May 20 and will be at WDW May 21-27. Bootxn, do you already have your reservation and do you know what the rate will be at that time? Thanks for the info.

We will be in Disney May 22-29!
Here is the website for HoJo's and hoping it works for you! If not, I added the address and phone number.

56 Fortune Boulevard * I-10 & Exit 192, Midway, FL 32343, US
Phone: 850-574-8888 * Fax: 850-574-5011

King $58.65
NS or S 2 Queen beds $67.15
Just noticed the price increase of about $9.00

I guess I should have booked this a few weeks ago, but we still plan to stay there anyway on May 21.
Hope this helps some!

We've always had good luck staying @ La Quinta on North Monroe which is right by I-10. It has a good enough pool for the kids, rooms are nice plus there is plenty of places to eat a short drive from there, last year we even walked to a Cracker Barrel restaurant. Plus free breakfast, our rate this June is around $62. Also there are gas stations close by. Good luck !

We've stayed at the Microtel on N. Monroe several times in the past few years and will be stopping there again next month on our way to WDW. As kylara mentioned, it's nothing fancy, but it has always been clean with very friendly front desk staff.

I was able to get the Tallahassee Courtyard (Capital area) for $45/night on Priceline. Bid 2.5 for Capital area. (See biddingfortravel.com for helpful tips on bidding). I've stayed there before and have been very pleased. We'll be staying there for the Memorial Day weekend.
