Driving down to WDW from Maryland in January. Hoping to stop at a hotel at/around the halfway mark.. I've only done a little research but so far, the reviews I've seen for hotels in my target area (like Florence, SC) have reviews that say mask use is spotty...

Has anyone stayed in a hotel that felt safe in SC or GA? And, if you're feeling generous, anyone have any safe bathrooms stops between Maryland and WDW? :)

Hampton Inn - Santee, SC. Recently remodeled, hot breakfast served to you, follows protocols and mobile check-in (if eligible). Stayed last month- very safe.

But, do not stop to potty in SC. Just don't.

Eta: rest stop before exit 44 in Fayetteville, NC is good. Small and more mask usage.

No specific recommendations in the Carolinas or Ga, but I would expect any national chain hotel to be following stringent protocols.

We also use Hampton Inn, which is part of the Hilton family, to visit our daughter in college. I signed up for the Hilton Honors program and downloaded their app. When we check in, we do it on the app. I get a digital key in the app which lets me into the hotel and also into my room. My room door is tagged with a sticker indicating that the room has been cleaned to their protocols.

Checkout is the same. We never visit the front desk. Masks are required for both guests and staff. That's a Hilton rule, not local regulation, and compliance is 100%.

At the Hampton we use, they do not serve breakfast. Breakfast is provided but it's self-serve. You can cook your own waffle, but they no longer have trays of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, etc like they used to. They have packaged breakfast sandwiches, bagels, fruit, etc.

We've been very pleased, and felt safe.

I'd be amazed if other chains like Marriott, etc didn't do similar things.

That's what I thought, but when I started poking around Trip Advisor at some hotels (all chains), the reviews were talking about some staff and lots of guests not wearing masks in common areas. I'll keep researching I was just hoping there were some slam dunks that people recommended.

Out of curiosity I just looked at TripAdvisor for the Santee Hampton- looks like people had terrible experiences since my and others good Covid stays so it may not be up to par now.
