What hotels are best to stay at for a family of 7? About how much did it cost you?
Any that allow 7 in one room? Or do you always need 2 rooms?

Desert Inn and Suites, Residence Inn Maingate and Anaheim Plaza have suites that will sleep up to 8. The DLR hotels have suites that will sleep 6 or more, but it's usually cheaper to get 2 standard rooms.

We stayed at the springhills suites on Harbor . We had a suite with 2 queens, bunk beds and sofa bed. There is only one bathroom. There is free hot breakfast that comes with your room. It is walking distance to Disneyland, or the ART picks you up by the hotel. We booked our hotel through get a way today.

Following because I would like to know the answer to this too! We have 6 kids & are a family of 8 so for our trip next month we are renting a house through VRBO but Anaheim is not allowing this after this year or maybe earlier according to resident expert DarkBeer1. :/

How many people does this sleep? Eight???

Only place I know of that sleeps around that many is Desert Inn & Suites which have suites that sleep 8 or 10. They are essentially two rooms connected with 2 queens each plus some have a sitting room with a pull out couch. They do have 1.5 or 2 bathrooms though & great rates if you book early plus it's across the street on Harbor. :)

There is a brand new hilton homewood suites on harbor literally right next door to the toy Story parking lot. They have a suite that has a king bed, set of bunks with a trundle that pulls out and a sleeper sofa that would sleep 2 easily. It also has a kitchenette with an apartment sized full size fridge. We stayed here last trip and it was fantastic! There is a hot breakfast every morning that is included also and it was pretty good! I think those rooms average about 250-260/night. You also just walk into the parking lot next door and hop in the buses and they drop you off right at the main entrance and it's free :) hth!

There are timeshares in the area that will sleep 8 - Peacock Suites (in a 2 bedroom), Dolphin's Cove (in a 2 bedroom), Worldmark Anaheim (in a 3 bedroom).

The other very pricey one I know of would be Great Wolf Lodge in a premium room, with additional charge per person after the first 6.

A cheaper option is the Anaheim Islander Inn and Suites. It is about a 15 minute walk to DL, but the ART stops right outside. We have stayed there 3 times when my Mom came with us to make us a family of 7. We got the suite with 4 queen beds (in 2 rooms but it only has 1 entrance door...bonus if your worried about kids wandering) and a shared bathroom. The breakfast was nothing special (back in 2014 it was apples, muffins/pastries juice and coffee), but we did a quick trip to Target to stock up on milk, cereal, fruit and breakfast bars. The beds were comfy and the rooms were clean. A pool but no hot tub. It did the trick as we basically slept, got ready and had a quick breakfast in the room.

When we travel to DLR with our family of 9, we always stay at HoJo with two connecting rooms, always Rooms 1117 and 1119. There are 4 queen beds, two bathrooms, and a sink outside each bathroom. It may be pricey, but it is very convenient, the rooms are quiet, and the beds are comfy. And the hospitality at HoJo is the best I have found at any hotel.

I've been searching for our trip I am planning at the end of September, we will have at least 6 people but possibly 8.

I found Best Western Raffles Inn to be reasonably priced, it's by the Toy Story parking lot and their largest suite has 2 bathrooms! This is why I am leaning towards this hotel. One bathroom and that many people is bad!lol

Marriot Residence Inn on Harbour,

W are a family of 6 and have stayed there four times. The rooms are two bedrooms with two bathrooms, one bedroom has 2 kings th other had bunkbeds that sleep 4... Great hot breakfast, shuttle pick up out front to the park, close to target etc. We h paid from 99/night to 209/night depending on on time of year

Note, there are now three different Residence Inn location near Disneyland.

The older Condo Style group of buildings at the corner of Disney Way and Clementine. RI Maingate)

The newest Residence Inn on Katella near Harbor Blvd. (Note the American spelling) A Tower Building. (RI Anaheim Resort/Convention Center)

Then the one in the city of Garden Grove on Harbor Blvd. For most, not walking distance, unlike the other two. Also a tower Building, but in an older style. (RI Anaheim Resort Area/Garden Grove)

All three properties have diferent room layouts and amounts of each type, so you need to look at the offerings of each, and decide the style and the location you prefer.

I am only familiar with the Katella/Harbor location... great property.. we walked once and would never do it again. The DRT picks up out front

I like the Hyatt Orange County, but it doesn't get a lot of love on these boards. It is not walking distance, and does not have free breakfast, so I'm guessing those are 2 reasons. However, we find it to be a bit more upscale than many of the closer hotels, and that's important to us.

They have a 2-bedroom, 2 bath suite...one room has a King, one room has 2 Queens, and a sofa bed in the living room. Depending on the size of your kids, this could work. There are other suite configurations as well. They run a lot of specials, and I have found that the rates aren't bad.

They offer a shuttle to DL, and it departs every half hour. I believe it's $6/day for adults, $3/day for kids, and under 3 are free. There's a Starbucks in the lobby. Kids eat free with a paid adult at dinner.

OK, here is something I posted at TA this AM, that might be the start of a list of options for large r=families...

Good Day, Not sure what "area" you are talking about in this comment...

>>Also, is the commute to anaheim ok from this area?<<

As for STR's being banned, yes, the city of Anaheim has officially banned them, but there is a short time until early next year where they area allowed with a new set of rules, so I would at least want a Extended Stay Property as a backup if planning a trip.

Quite a few options in the Disneyland area (which is in the city of Anaheim, but by no means the entire city, just a small part of it.

The Hotel area near the parks also included other cities, such as Garden Grove, Orange and Buena Park. If looking at these other cities, look at the Garden grove area on Harbor Blvd near the intersection of Chapman and south of it. The city of Orange near The Outlets at Orange, and Angel Stadium, and Buena Park on Beach Blvd and La Palma Blvd.

In the city of Anaheim, of course the Anaheim Resort District area, but also in the Platinum Triangle area near Angel Stadium and the Honda Center.

As for Extended Stay/Apartment Style Hotels and Time Shares, some have separate rooms and some only have half walls, and many have multiple options, including a true separate bedroom with a full door. So you need to not just look at the basic room, but all the offerings, and of course, a one-bedroom suite is more expensive than a studio.

Plenty of options are recently built.

Off the top of my head, the new Country Inn and Suites might work, but not sure if they have a one-bedroom option. Also the old school Residence Inn Maingate on Clementine .

Pretty sure the Extended Stay america only offers studios. Though that is probably the lowest priced basic option.

Peacock Suites, World Mark Anaheim, Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites are the main Extended Stay style Hotels east of the Disneyland Resort.

Looking south, Three new options near the corner of Harbor and Katella.

Hyatt House, Springhill Suites and Residence Inn on Katella.

Homewood Suites, and Dolphin's Cove are also possible options in the area.

In Garden Grove near Harbor and Chapman,

Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites and another Residence Inn.

So that is a start of places to look at.

Forgot the area near Angel Stadium. The Three Ayers Hotels (Ayers Anaheim, Ayers Orange and and ALO) might fit your need, in the lower price range of the category, and a great Cooked to order Breakfast, plus the Embassy Suites and the DoubleTree.

And I probably missed a couple, and hopefully others can fix in the gaps.<<

Since the OP was looking for Basic and lower priced, I didn't mention the DVC Villas at the GCH, but that is another to add to the list.

So folks, let's see if we can come up with a list of Hotels/Motels with rooms that take 6 or more, and then mention features like, is a multiple room option available, does it come with a full kitchen, or something else. Walking Distance, or what type of Shuttle is available, Parking, Free or a charge, is there a Wi-Fi fee, perks like pools (amount and size, quality) and general price range.

If we try to do this as a group, we should come up with a decent list, and with the STR ban starting to impact the market, a good time to get 'r done!
