I will be in Disneyland for my 50th birthday. I'm super excited, but have a few questions. I'm actually going to a seminar at the Anaheim Marriott for November 3-6. My birthday is on Nov. 1st, so we are going early to celebrate. I'm not sure if I should get a room at the Marriott for the 1st part of the trip, or stay in a closer and/or cheaper hotel for the Disneyland/birthday part of the trip. I can get the Anabella for about $150.00 cheaper total, or the Tropicana for about the same price. We won't have a car, so we'll have to move our suitcases (rolling type) from one hotel to the next if we don't stay in the Marriott for the whole time. And since the seminar part of the trip is being paid by my employer, I'd have 2 reservations and might have to change rooms even if I stay at the Marriott the whole time. I don't know how far the Marriott is from the parks either. On maps it looks like it's walkable, and it's just DH and I, no children. Also, another, more pricey option would be renting points to stay at the GCV. Or am I way to late to get a reservation there?
Any opinions????

The Marriott is a bit of a walk from the parks. It can feel a lot longer after walking all day. I would do the Tropicana and then take a taxi from the Tropicana to the Marriott when you need to head over to that hotel. The fare shouldn't be more than about $10. I can't imagine wheeling suitcases down the street, that wouldn't be fun!

The Tropicana is really close the parks and I've heard good things about them. The Anabella is probably about the same walk as the Marriott.

BTW, Happy Birthday in advanced! :)

DD and I stayed at the Tropicana in Feb and we liked it. Perfect location, room was clean, friendly staff. I would do as minnieralyks said and just take a cab (or Uber) from the Tropicana to the Marriott.

Too late for DVC unfortunately, it's booked solid. VGC generally books up right at 7 months prior at that time (like within minutes).

We love the Tropicana you cannot beat the location. I am curious about the Carousel construction and how that may effect anyone staying on the opposite side of the crosswalk. There may also be construction noise to be aware of since the Carousel closes Oct 17th and is right next door.

From the YouTube videos I have been watching, they are predicting that there won't be any "construction" at Carousel for quite a while. Reasoning being that first they will strip the rooms of everything removable (beds, tables, hangers, etc), then work in in-room demolition of non-removable things (anything that may be built-in), and then they can get to the heavier things. And remember that the pizza place (totally blanking on the name) isn't due to be out until April, which is when I'm kind of assuming heavier construction will start.

Pizza press.

Does the Marriott have a shuttle to/from parks? If so, that may weigh on your decision.

I actually have checked for a resort hotel for dapper days. They require you to stay at the hotel for the actual dapper days dates. My seminar is that Thursday/ Friday/ Saturday and I have to stay at the Martiott those days. We will have park tickets for that Friday and Saturday evening, so I plan on checking out dapper days, but when I try to put in for only 3 nights at DLH through them, it tells me that a 6 night stay is required (staying through that weekend). Do you think if I call I could get just the 3 days? I would want Sunday/Monday / Tuesday nights, then need to move to the Marriott.
