OK so I have yet to book place. We are leaving next month, towards the end of the month. My husband wants to stay in a nice hotel but not spend too much, my guess $150 or less. I, of course, would rather stay in Disney but since there are many hotels near by why pay the price for a room that you barely see? SO, my question or poll, what hotel won't break our bank but is nice enough for me to look into. I need to book this NOW! or I'll go crazy. It's our daughter's 7th birthday so he really wants it to be a nice hotel. Please don't tell me to try and talk him into staying on Disney property, I've tried plus I don't think there are any rooms. TIA

I've stayed at, and enjoyed, HoJo and the Anabella. I've also stayed at the Carousel, but I didn't enjoy that as much.

So what are you looking for? Do you want to walk to Disney or take the bus? Do you want a great pool? Indoor or outdoor? Free breakfast?
I can tell you we have stayed at the Marriott - nice but you need to ride the little trolly to Disney. The Hilton - nice but you pay to park your car and the walk is about 20 min. They have a bus, but you pay for that too. They do have packages that include breakfast, tickets and bus. They also often have kids eat free. I can not say enough good things about the Howard Johnson. It is an 8 min. walk to the ticket booth, parking is free, fridg in room, two nice pools and the best part is the rate. You can often get an Enertainment Book rate of $59.00 a night! The rack rate is about $120.00 a night! To get the rate you can use discount code SD50 on line or call the hotel directly. Do not call the 800 number, they don't have the entertainment rate available. This HoJo wins the "Property of the Year" award consistantly. It really is a great hotel for the price.

Looks like HOJO has no rooms available for 5 plus infant. Cant see us sleeping in a KING size bed.

Does anyone know if Desert Inn and Suites offer free internet? It says its available but that doesn't mean it's free. If we bring a laptop (husband never leaves home without it) would we have to pay to go on-line? How does that work?

Sorry for all these questions but so far you guys are VERY HELPFUL. And I am forever greatful:)

Ah, I knew I had seen your name before. :) Your "where to stay" thread is all the way back on page 4, and I had seen that before, and due to the number in your party I had no ideas. Then I saw this post and thought I had been mistaken so piped up, but alas, my suggestions don't help you. Sorry.

I recommend Residence Inn Maingate (room enough for 6), or connecting rooms at the HoJo with the ent. rate. The HoJo's internet is free, and they don't charge for parking.
