can anyone tell me how far the Quality Inn and Suites are from the parks? This is the one on Manchester Ave. We can get a free room there on points, but would pay for a room at a different place if it's really far or is just a cruddy hotel!! Thanks!!!:hippie:

Based on the map, it looks like it's just past the HoJo on Manchester. I'd guess it's about a 15 minute walk from the parks. They may be on the ART line. You could call and ask.

Never stayed there, but I'd check tripadvisor for reviews on cleanliness, etc.

If this is the one that used to be the Penny Sleeper Inn, I would be very leery of staying there. Check out what Bret has to say about it (just click on the name of the motel):

Just in case you can't get the link to work, here's one thing he says:

I would NEVER stay here again......if they were giving rooms away. I wouldn't take one.
This is one NASTY FILTHY CRUSTY NOISY RUN-DOWN BUG-INFESTED DIVE!
If you've ever seen
Revenge of the Nerds II - Nerds in Paradise.
This place will remind you of the Hotel Coral Essex.
You REALLY don't want to stay here, You'll be happier sleeping in your Car!

The only thing is, from DangerMouse's description, I'm not sure this is the same motel. According to Bret's map, it's the only Quality Inn in that area, and it is on Manchester.

Yeah, it's the same place. I was thinking the OP could cut through the Fairfield grounds/parking lot to get to Harbor instead of walking all the way around on Manchester to get that 15 minute walk. If Bret's review is recent, I would avoid it like the plague!

Yeah, doesn't it sound like a nightmare? And just think of all the unsuspecting non-DIS people who find themselves stuck there with no other options but to tough it out!! :scared:

link to the review.

According to the review, Brett got sent here when the Park Vue was overbooked. So those booking that hotel may want to read his review too.

The property

The place was gross.
run-down flea-bag motel.
The carpet had not even been vaccumed and it had bleach spots all over it.
There are ROACH MOTELS behind the toilet.
no rack to hang clothes on!

The Staff.
Don't expect much help from someone that runs a filthy hole like the Penny Sleeper Inn, charging as much as he can get away with for the crusty run-down rooms he has.

The Room
The carpet is FILTHY. I've seen cleaner bathrooms in bus stations. The wallpaper is peeling , there are BUGS IN THE ROOM! The noise from the freeway is HORRIBLE! The whole place is dilapidated. This is not the place you want to be if you're at all particular about cleanliness

The summary appears up thread.

Reading his reviews, he's not one that has to be papered. Give him a clean comfortable room and he's good to go. So if he's complaining like this, it's safe to assume he genuinely had a bad experience.

The only trouble is I can't find the date. So I'll pull some from Trip Advisor.

Note that it has more good reviews than bad. But lI'll just post the bad ones that detail the bad.

Apr 30th 2007.

However, the room was awful. Super tiny and cramped. The bathroom reeked of mold and there was visible black mold along the ceiling and up the corners of the walls. The floor was not vacuumed and there were candy wrappers around the bed. The sink and bathroom fixtures were dirty and had big black hairs. Very UNSAFE was the outlet over the sink. It was not GFCI, and was so worn that the plug from my hairdryer and curling iron would simply fall right out of it. Also, the front of our sink was actually broken in half and had a screw sticking out,

We stayed here for four nights, and by the end, we were definitely ready to leave. Our room was so tiny, and the bed was uncomfortable.
The bathroom had a funky smell and the freeway was right outside our door, so we had the delightful noise all night. The water got shut off for one evening

The room looked decent upon arrival, but we noticed it was very stuffy, and the day wasn't especially warm. Wouldn't want to depend on the air conditioning during summer days. The tv received just a couple of clear channels. The bottom of the tub had a weird bubbly feel, but it looked clean. This room had a microwave and a refrigerator. The alarm clock was broken and the electrical to the wall lamps over the bed did some popping and hissing that scared me a little. It only did it one time, but it seems some attention is needed.

Again there were several good reviews as well.
But I would conclude that the place is a behind on maintenance and cleanliness on average and wouldn't take the risk.
I'm one of those that doesn't need much. But I do want a clean room.
