I have a question regarding everyone's opinions on the wdw hotels. Two people in my group have to be extremely germ conscious due to medical issues. I've read alot of reviews about value hotels in particular having gross carpet for ex and that sometimes the cleanliness isn't always great. Can anyone provide their experience w values? Particularly pop century?
I do know about VIP cleaning and I'm definitely asking for that. How many days advance do I need to ask? If I book the room three days before going is that enough time for them? Thanks in advance everyone!!!

I stay at either POP or All stars and my rooms have always been very clean ( I have also stayed at 4 stars hotels off site that are not as clean as the ones I stay at disney) I have never asked for a VIP cleaning, but I have taken a few minutes to wipe down the room when I can. I would give disney as much time for a VIP cleaning I do know that it will take longer for then to clean your room so do not expect to have it ready at 7am and moving rooms will be harder.

Some people are much more careful about not spilling on the carpet and not walking on the carpet with soiled shoes than other people. And, if it's been rainy, people may be walking around in the room with wet shoes. So, a carpet that was clean one day, may look pretty gross in a few days time.

If you are expecting carpets to be cleaned as part of the cleaning, you need to give as much notice as possible. Also, realize that it may take the better part of the day for carpets to dry, so you may not get in until after the usual check in time.

Sorry, OP, but if you aren't booking a room until 3 days before you plan on arriving, you'll be extremely lucky to get the resort you want, never mind a VIP cleaning. I would suggest booking as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment, and to request the VIP cleaning with as much lead time as you can.

Any resort room, whether value or deluxe, on site or off, could have a dirty carpet. With over 30,000 resort rooms, some are bound to be dirty. As a rule, value resorts are no less sanitary than any other.

You need to book more than 3 days in advance, especially if you want a VIP cleaning.

I would suggest at least 2 weeks in advance, more if possible. Additionally, don't just say that you want a "VIP cleaning". Explain that it is due to medical issues - compromised immune system, or allergies, or whatever the medical reason is.

Was at all star movies in May, room was filthy. Hair in tub, carpet wet in places, large smear of something Brown on curtains. I would request the VIP cleaning

no way is 3 days enough time. a week MINIMUM, and honestly closer to twice that. a very through cleaning does not just include the carpets but also the drapes being removed and replaced with clean ones, the bed coverlet( which normally only gets cleaned every few guests)

it also takes the staff extra personnel to accomplish it( the person(s) cannot be doing their usual number of rooms per day) so they need enough lead time to schedule extra people.

I'd be requesting a new room - that's disgusting, and definitely not the norm!

Definitely you need to book more than 3 days in advance, regardless of the cleaning. I honestly wouldn't expect to get a room at all during the summer season with only a few days notice, and even in off season you probably wouldn't be able to get the hotel you want for the exact dates you need. You never know, as cancellations happen all the time, but it's silly to risk it when you're planning a magical vacation!

Most people planning a Disney trip will book literally six months or even a year ahead of time, which I find a little excessive but I certainly understand the reasoning. For one thing, dining reservations become available at the 180 day mark, so if you're trying to get into a popular restaurant it's best to make plans as early as possible. Fast Passes also start filling up six weeks ahead of time.

I don't mean to scare you here. It's possible to have a great Disney vacation tomorrow if you're extremely flexible about plans and determined. But if you're planning to stay on-site at a Disney resort and especially if you need a VIP cleaning, you should book as soon as possible. Same goes for making dining reservations and getting your FPs. It will make your trip much more pleasant and reduce waiting in lines and being turned away at restaurants. Is there a specific reason that you're not able to make plans in advance?

I didn't really care for Pop at all but I had absolutely no complaints about the cleanliness. Our room was spotless.

Pop is my favorite value! Every time I have stayed there (5+ times) the room has been spotless.
My trick when I first arrive in a room is to wipe down lots of surfaces with my Lysol wipes-light switches, phone, table, chairs, TV remote, door handles (including exterior handle on front door), door jam lock, toilet seat, faucet, toilet, hand rails, drawer pulls, safe key and door-- pretty much anything I might touch. One time, I was walking from the vanity area to the table and just swiped my wipe across the top of the TV armoire--not ONE speck of dirt or dust. Inside the drawers were the same. You can bet I left a great tip for Mousekeeping every day--they really deserved it.

We have stayed at ASMo, ASMu, and Pop. Each room was as clean as any other hotel room would be. I always clean the room on my own, though. I bring my own blanket and use that instead of the normal bed blankets. I put the tv remote into a large ziplock bag and zip it up. I clean the surfaces with Young Living Thieves Cleaner that I bring from home (like everything- light switches, door knobs, telephone, table, bathroom... everything). I also check the bedding for bed bugs. After I have done those 4 things, I feel pretty good about the room. When I'm in there I wear slippers or socks on my feet, and do our laundry every few days. I feel ok using the sheets and towels in the rooms. I hope this helps!

You will be lucky to get any room 3 days in advance. Do you realize that you don't need to pay for it all up front? Just a down payment and the rest not due until arrival. I would book as far in advance as possible.
