Hotel with FPP

I have a quick question. I want to cancel a Disney hotel, however I am going to rebook a new Disney hotel, for the same time frame. Are the FPP linked to the first hotel or do they automatically link to the new hotel.

From everything I've read, if is 'safer' to book your new Disney resort reservation then cancel your old reservation. Do you have a room only reservation or a package?

It is a room only. So you are saying to make sure I secure another reservation before I cancel the old one?

If it is more than 30 days before your first FP and you are financially comfortable putting a deposit down on your second reservation before cancelling the first one I would do it that way. I also suggest taking screen shots of all of your FPs on the off chance something goes wrong on the Disney IT side.

If you are within 30 days of your FP, there should be no need to book the second reservation before the first, since you have a valid ticket vs a package. Again, take screen shots of your FPs, just in case.

Recently, there have been issues with MDE not performing well, so I would err to the more cautious side.

Your FP+ are actually connected to your tickets, not your resort. Your onsite resort reservation simply opened your reservation window at the 60 day mark. You won't lose your FP+ if you have tickets linked to MDE even if you cancel your resort. Is there a reason you are canceling and not simply modifying your resort reservation?

FPs just need tickets to exist, not resort reservations.
