My son occassionaly has accidents while sleeping especially when he is really tired. He is too big for those good nights training pants do the resorts have any mattress protections that you can request?

I am not sure if the hotels have mattress protectors or not. I have an unpredictable bed wetter and here is what we have done. I have brought a flannel backed vinyl table cloth and put that on the bed to protect it. We have also brought our own twin sized air mattress. There are two sides to the air mattress, one that is velvety and the other that is rubberized/plastic that is the side we put up. He loves to sleep on the mattress and no worries about ruining someone elses sheets or mattress. My guess is that a lot of hotels would have mattress pads, but it is nice to have a backup just in case.

If you call mousekeeping and ask they have matress pads. They are a thick cloth. We got when for my son a few years ago after he had an accident when he was just about potty trained. I am sure that if you ask they will bring you several.

Don't know how old he is but we had the same issue until my son was 7. For a while he'd have an accident 3 or 4 times a night - even with limiting his fluids during the evening. At 7, his pediatrician gave him a medication that he, seriously, took for one week. It's never happened again. I don't think they'll treat it before the age of 7 - at least that was the magic number back then. Good luck.

I assume if the goodnights are too small he is getting a little older. i think those go to well over a 100 lbs. I agree that it might be time to consult the dr if that has not already been done. Another suggestion might be the adult underwear protection that older people wear. Their small should pick up just about where goodnights leave off. I would also just pack my bed cover from home. I did read on another board where a child wet the matress and the parents were charged for the damage. I would do whatever it takes to make the situation less embarassing for your DS.

Thank you for all your help. He is only going to be 6 so the drs are not ready to med yet,but they may if i tell them that we are going on vacation. the problem with the goodnights is that he has a weight problem that we cant get controlled so they dont fit. I know good nights say they go to over 100lbs but they really dont seem to fit him at 90 thanks again

Hi! A good friend of mine had the same problem with her DD. When her daughter was overtired, she would just sleep through wetting. She found that, on those nights, waking her up in the middle of the night to go really helped. Also, I know she used the crib-sized mattress pads (I still had some from when my kids were babies that I gave her) to slip under the sheets when she visited her parents to protect the mattress. I guess you'd still have to change the sheets, but at least the mattress wouldn't be wet.

Best of luck to you!

You could take some chux, the paper pads that hospitals use. You can buy them at most drugstores that sell durable medical equipment, or you can order some online. http://www.howardmedical.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=HMC&Category_Code=2241

It can be uncomfortable to sleep directly on these, so you can ask the hotel for extra sheets when you check in, and put the pad underneath the sheet. When DS was having this sort of trouble I used to make the bed in several layers, so that all I had to do to clean up was take off the top one and throw away the pad. (Obviously, I bought the largest size chux.)

I'm sorta new to this board so forgive me for jumping in. Has your son been tested for diabeties? I can't imagine that your Dr hasn't since you've discussed the bed wetting and weight issues. But anyway.

I would just pack a waterproof matress pad. You can get a cheap one at Target. Then I'd request extra bedding from housekeeping to have on hand.

I'm sure Disney is used to dealing with this kinda stuff but I would also let housekeeping know. I know when I worked in a hotel it happened a lot and people would try to hide it causing a bigger problem than if they just told us in the first place.

When we stayed at GF two years ago, we put a plastic garbage bag under the sheet. The Mousekeeper noticed that it was there, and gave us a proper plastic mattress pad without even being asked to do so. We were so pleased, she got an extra tip.
