We are staying at Portofino Bay Hotel in December. Do they have a shuttle to DTD or to MCO? We need to get to both and am trying to decide if I should rent a towncar,cab,etc... Thanks for any info you have.

You need to arrange your own transportation. A cab will run you about $35-$40 one way. It is probably cheaper to get Mears transport which is about $60 return.

for the first time for a town car, i used sunray this time.
i paid $35 to move me from disney resorts to the rph.
will be using this mode again for my 07 trip.
company was fine.
not sure what others are charging now though but could be in the same ball park i assume.

the mears has a shuttle bus from disney to the bus area at universal.
it is $14 per person round trip.

i guess you only need one way if you are relocating from one theme park resort to another. might not be a good deal if you are with a family though.

i have used a cab before and paid $25 to relocate.
but, and remember this but........it was at an off time where we would not encounter traffic.
time and mileage applies when using taxis.

just reread the op question.

boy did i screw up on this one...... :teeth:

you can get codes and get some deals for car rentals of sometimes $25 a day. if you do that, you pay the parking fee at the universal hotels of about $12 per night to park it there.

if you add those 2 numbers together, it comes to the cost of a shuttle.
i know sunray does a discount for more than one trip.
i paid them a total of $112 for a 3 leg run.
mco to grocery store, to wdw then to rph then back to mco.

if you don't have many in your group, use hte mears shuttle of $14 per person, it's a round trip cost.

or you could rent a car just for the day and return it in the evening so you don't have the parking fee at pbh.

if money is not a problem, i would use the towncar service. you don't have to deal with parking or traffic and would be picked up at a time you request.

how large is the group you will be with ?
all going to dtd together?

if you are using town car for returning to mco, check the prices of some of the car services. mco is closer to UO than it is to WDW.

There are only 3 in my group, but I think the towncar will be the way to go. Thanks for all the help
