Hey every one... heres my problem.... I want to switch hotels mid trip but im not sure how to do this.... I want to stay at the Pop for 4 nights then either switch to the POR or the WL (depending on finances) but I wont have a car so how do i get my luggage from one hotel to the other im only planning on taking a small suitcase (the size you can fit in an over head bin on the plane) and a backpack of some kind(i have more backpacks then anyone would ever need in a lifetime) do I just hop onto the disney transport with my stuff or will they send it over to me or will i have to break down and stay at just one resort or break down and rent a car? I'm sorry if this seems like a dumb question but ive actually never really thought of switching resorts but since im trying to plan this a year and a half out i figure i can save up some extra money and try a new hotel for at least some part of my trip...

Thanks for the help folks!!! :dog:

All you have to do is call Bell Services when you are ready to check out of the first hotel. They'll pick up your bags and send them to your 2nd resort. Then when you get checked into your room there, just call them again, and they'll bring your bags up to your room.

WDW has switching resorts down to a science. In January we switched from WL to AKL. In May I was traveling solo and spent two nights at POP, five nights at BWV, then went back to POP for a final two nights.

There is a button on your phone for bell services, just call them when you're ready. At POP you don't even have to be in the room--just call, tell them where you need the bags transported, and leave to go to the parks. At the deluxe and moderate resorts you will need to wait for them to pick up your bags. They will take them, you tip them, and they give you a receipt for your bags. I then go to the new resort and check in. You could just wait until you get back from the park that day to check in, but I think checking in early will give me a better chance of getting the room I want. If the new room is ready you can check it out, if not they will give you a room key and a number to call later in the day for your room number. Anyway if you're checking into a value resort the bags will be in the new room waiting for you, if you're checking into a moderate or deluxe, you will just need to call bell services from your room or else just go by bell services as you walk in and ask them to bring you your bags.

I love switching resorts as it feels like two vacations in one. Next month I'll be at POP for seven days and already know I'm going to get bored. In Dec I'll be doing a split stay again between POFQ and CSR. Can't wait.

hmmm, just when i thought i knew all i needed to know about resort switching i learn something new! LOL!

we are staying at POFQ... i was of the impression that all we had to do was pack and run and while we were out they would fetch our stuff and take it over to AKL... now i read that i have to *be* there when they come for the bags?! this is a problem for me 'cause the switch over to AKL is a big surprise for the kids and i don't want them to know... i was planning on checking out while they were eating breakfast at the food court but if i have to be in my room it throws a wrench in our works... any suggestions?

I do this alot also. I bring my own bags down and have them call me a cab. I always go early morning and have always gotten in my room before 7am. it was like never even changing rooms!

We are in a slightly different situation, we are staying at a non-Disney Cruise Line resort, so there are no baggage transfers or buses to the port from our resort. I was told that rather than trying to load all of our luggage onto a bus or monorail, that there was a van we could call, Disney owned and operated that would physically take us from one resort to another. They said it would have to be arrabged the day before. We of course will be catching a bus to the port and not checking into another resort. We don't need to do this until next October so I haven't investigated it thoroughly yet, but I will early next year. If one of the perks of staying on Disney property is the complementary use of Disney transporation, it makes sense that would provide something like this, as there are many families that switch resorts during their stay. They said that the monorails and the buses are too crowded to hold families with all of their luggage so they'd prefer we did it by van.

I guess we'll see.

Have a great vacation!
