I am going to NY with my daughter in Dec and curious on a good Hotel. Not to expensive. I stayed at hotel Pennslvania years ago and the rooms were the size of an elavator so something a little bigger for a 7yr old 2 adults and possibly a 10 yr old as well.

Most of the hotels I stay are typically in the $200 range, but in December, the same rooms tend to be over $300. Amongst my favorite hotels are:

The Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square--great location, great security, great staff. Two rooms suites.

New York Hilton on Sixth Ave.--close to Rockefeller Center and Radio City.

Marriott Marquis in Times Square--great location.

New York Sheraton and Towers--just stayed there a couple of weeks ago and the rooms were great. Very nice hotel. Can use the pool over at the Sheraton Manhattan.

For something a little cheaper, the Howard Johnson's on 8th Ave. isn't bad.

The Library Hotel sounds really neat. I don't know much about it though, I've never stayed there so I don't know if it's kid friendly, or convienient to things.

All I know is the rooms are all themed to different genres of books.

Yikes. I just saw the prices for the Library and now I know why I have never been there.

I don't know specific hotels, but if you avoid the Times Square area, you can probably get a better deal. No specific suggestions (I live here, so we don't need to stay in hotels, sorry) but if you have questions about a particular area, I can probably help.

We just went to NYC 3 weeks ago with our teenagers. It had to be a low-budget trip, so staying right in Times Square was out of the question. I searched some visitors sites and came up with the Skyline Hotel. Tripadvisor had mixed reviews, but we went with it anyway. We paid about $150/nt, the room was huge with a king bed and sofa bed, and we even had a refrigerator. The best part though was $8 a day to park, no in-out though. It was at 10th and 49th, about a 10 min. walk to Times square. Everything else I looked at closer to the square would have been close to $300/day after factoring in parking the van.

Jasminesmommy- if you have any questions about the hotel, feel free to pm me!
